Complaint Review: Primerica

Primerica Financial ripoff Does not return fees for Tests or 200 initial fee when leaving. I would recommend that unless you are 100% sure that selling insurance is your life long goal that you don't plop down the money for this company as you will never see it again Duluth Georgia

*UPDATE: Primerica recognized by Rip-off Report a business opportunity well worth considering - it's not for everyone but many representatives make solid commission incomes. Primerica takes appropriate action against representatives conducting themselves improperly, pledges 100% commitment to customer service.

I joined Primerica because I was told that it was a no risk way of seeing if I wanted to get into selling insurance. I plopped down 200 for the initial fee and then the 60+ for the initial exam.

After the first week I went and took the exam and passed it. However I felt that Primerica and selling insurance was not for me so I sent them a letter requesting my money back and to cancel my service with them.

I later that week received an email telling my my access to Primerica web page was canceled. Later that weekend I received a letter in the mail telling me that sorry but they will not refund me any of the money because I attended one of their prelicensing classes.

I do not see anywhere in the contract where attending a class is grounds for not getting a refund. Also I am still out the 60+ dollars that they said they would reimburse me for taking the test.

I would recommend that unless you are 100% sure that selling insurance is your life long goal that you don't plop down the money for this company as you will never see it again no matter what they tell you.

Sincerely,
Ripped off.

In regards to your refund

Just in response to you saying you never saw on the contract where it says you dont get a refund if you go to the class that is definently the agent who recruited you's fault, he or she should have told you the terms and conditions, and since he didn't I will tell you them.

On the contract (IBA independent Business Application) you will sign a box that says right above it the refund policy. The refund policy says that if you decide not to persue the business that your 199 minus a 40 dollar processing fee WILL be refunded to you IF you have not attended the class. Since the 199 is not for your license but it is for your class if you go to the class then you have utilized the books, teacher, cd and tape that the 199 was used to for. Depending on what state you live in, what is refunded to you is the test and licensing fee that you pay AFTER the class when you are ready to get your license. Those two items are then refunded with in 2-3 weeks AFTER you turn in your license.

I am sorry that you were not informed correctly, hopefully this will help inform any body else who is confused on the policy. It is agents like the one you delt with that gives us honest agents a bad name.

Thank you
