Privacy Matters Charges, charges, charges. Even after cancelling. Des Plaines Il
In January I got what was listed as a FREE credit report from Privacy Matters. On my next credit card statement I had 13 charges from them. Six of them $29.95 each.
Multiple charges on the same day.
I immediately called one of the 13 phone numbers and cancelled. They told me I had until January 27 to cancel and I hadn't done that. However, charges started on January 8. Nowhere did I remember seeing that I had joined anything or any charges shown.
I then called my credit card company and asked them now to allow any more charges from that company.
On my March statement I had the same thing all over again. I called my credit card company and they said they felt it was fraud. (Chase). They cancelled my card, credited me for the amounts, and issued a new card.
In April I got a letter from Chase saying that upon review they felt
there was no fraud and charges would re-appear on my card.
I have been unsuccessful at having Chase remove these charges.
I do not know if PRivacy Matters was given my new card number.
I contacted Privacy Matters and told them I had cancelled. They
e-mailed me to tell me that as of May 31 I was cancelled!
This is such a circus, I now have $163 in charges that Chase feels
I should pay.
What has Privacy MAtters done for all of this. I have no idea.
They have different phone numbers on all these charges. I suppose
you are supposed to call each one of them and cancel you membership?
I am frustrated, feeling I didn't do anything wrong and not even the
credit card company will back me.
