Today I noticed some fishy charges on my bank account from a company called Privacy Matters (the actual charges were for something called IK9* Privacy Mat). I actually had to Google this cryptic charge to figure out what the heck was going on and why I had been charged almost 100 dollars over the past 3 months. When I called I got what was probably the poorest designed automated phone menu in history and by the time I finally got through to a human being (took 25 minutes along with "all current representatives are busy with customers, please stay on the line for the next available representative" being shouted into my ear every 10 seconds...not joking...it gets annoying very quickly) I was beginning to wonder why I called in the first place. The woman (middle-eastern accent, go figure) was not only hard to understand but told me that she could only refund me for the last month's charges. To be refunded the total amount of all charges I had to talk to her supervisor, Bill (who sounded like he had a cigarette in his mouth and was probably wearing a trucker's hat...by the way, his ID number is 4710). He assured me that I would be refunded within 2 business days and would be taken off of any future charging lists. We'll see about that, but you can be assured I'll be watching my bank statement like a hawk I'm convinced this has all blown over. Long story longer...be careful when you check your credit report online. Many companies that only seem like they want to help are actually looking to RIP YOU OFF!
