Complaint Review: Susan J. Arnold

PRN (Psychic Reader Network) Mind & Spirit w/Miss Cleo-Independant Contracted Manager Susan J. Arnold is a liar and a rip-off scam artist *REBUTTALS

I was contracted by Susan J. Arnold Manager Independant Contractor for PRN, to receive incoming Tarot reading calls for PRN. I worked through a payperiod and had not received my paycheck from her which she would receive a deposit from PRN and would forward me my money order after she received the deposit.

She informed me that the pay check would be coming to me on June 7th 2001. I waited til June 12th 2001 and tried numerous times to contact her regarding my paycheck and received no response from her at all. I also tried making numerous attempts to PRN to get my paycheck and also did not receive a response.

I forwarded my timesheets to both PRN, Susan J. Arnold and an address called Snail Mail for Timesheets all of which did not repond or send me my check. I still have not received my paycheck.

Susan J. Arnold has also released confidential information from my contracts to other Independant Contractors which should have been held confidential. She has told people untrue statements about me which I consider to be defermation of character and I have several witnesses to that. Susan J. Arnold does not follow rules and does hire inexperienced psychic readers like myself to perform psychic reading.

I hope that no one else falls for her scam and realizes that working for both PRN and Susan J. Arnold is an AT YOUR OWN RISK and can result in the same situation as mine. I still am without a paycheck which I have earned.

This situation calls for a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT

#18REBUTTAL Owner of company

Fri, June 14, 2002

Anyone who has worked as an independent contractor for a bookstore that operated under Psychic Readers Network (PRN) that was cheated out of money needs to find an attorney and file a CLASS ACTION lawsuit.

I believe the company responsible for the problem is Psychic Readers Network. They are the ones who contracted with the bookstores who contracted with the independent contractors. Companies who hired independent psychics and did not pay them are guilty of fraud, etc. If the owners of these companies own homes, have assets, etc. they can be seized or have leans placed on them to pay off their debts. These bookstores who have been cheating the independent contractors out of their money must pay the consequences.

The issue here is not if PRN hires qualified psychics but the issue is the fact that bookstores acting as agents for PRN have conned unsuspecting people into talking calls, promising them financial compensation then charging customers and keeping the money for themselves.

It doesn't matter what PRN charges an hour. What does matter is what the bookstore agreed to pay their psychics. The bookstores are legally obligated to pay the psychics the amount that was agreed upon in writing for the amount of time that was spent speaking to callers.

The issue is not the quality of the readings because that is purely subjective, but the fact that the callers were charged for the calls and the fact that the independet contractors had a written agreement what their per minute payment would be for speaking to callers on the phone. And if these telephone psychics were not paid then the bookstore is guilty of breaching a contract.

The callers voluntarily place the calls and the independent telephone psychics agreed to work for money to take the calls. There are no victims here. Just a bunch of adults who made poor choices and then cried "poor me". It is just as bad as if someone lost $1,000.00 playing Black Jack in Las Vegas. They can't expect to get the money back after they trew it away and then blame it on the dealer.

After reading the reports here about how all of these people were scammed by Psychic Readers Network "bookstores", I have to say that not all of them are crooked.

I worked with Psychic Readers Network for nearly six years. Five of those years were under the "bookstore" Guiding Light Network, LLC ( http://www.guidinglightnetwork.com/ ), in California. Gretta Pontarelli has been nothing but honest and forthcoming, and I was always paid in full, and on time. I live over 200 miles from Temecula (California), and contracted with Guiding Light over the telephone, so I've never met Gretta face to face (nor do I guess I ever will now). Still, I have nothing but respect and admiration for her, and consider her a friend.

I can also tell you that the whole Court TV ( http://www.courttv.com/news/feature/cleo/index.html ) scandal of psychics reading from scripts, etc., did NOT involve Guiding Light! Gretta DEMANDED that each and every reading be individualized, personal and legitimate. She test called often, and had zero problem trashing the contracts of psychic frauds.

I really do feel badly for all those who were burned by crappy bookstores and bookstore managers. I guess I was just one of the lucky ones.

PRN IS A SCAM

First of all...she was right...PRN does not pay often. I had worked for them. I do know how to read tarot cards and always have.

The difference is...I was getting paid strictly for reading tarot cards. I straight up told everyone that called me..."I am not psychic...I use the cards strictly as a guide as they do not tell the future either." I had alot of comliments from clients for this.

PRN did not scam anyone though...except not paying pay checks. No matter what they say they know..."we are psychics" there is a little thing at the bottom of the tv screen that says "FOR ENTERTAINMENT ONLY" Those that claim PRN is a fraud, they aren't psychic, blah blah blah.

..HELLO! Its entertainment period...the two things that PRN IS Guilty of is not paying their contractors and lying to the world about the 3 free minutes...which is unfortunately used up by their stupid logsheets in which you have to capture the customers name, address, phone number (and the sarcasm kicks in) social security number, favorite food, ect.

Anyhoo...I thought your rebuttles to each other were funny. I am merely commenting on behalf of you both.

The reader...don't blame prn for not hiring sofisticated psychic readers as it's ONLY entertainment, and to the person that responded...same goes for you...don't put her down because she's trying to get a pay check.

I am a true psychic and do know tarot..I was excited to have a chance to work from home and do something that I enjoy and to help people.

I was never told that we were to scamm people and I did not. I gave kind and understanding readings and did truely help people..they felt much better after we talked and I gave honest tarot readings.

I feel good about my conversations with the many people that called in, any yes they did know the conditions and charges that they were accepting when they called.

The callers are not ripped of as they are aware of what they will be billed and they choose to make these calls and continue on the phone. I was only a mom doing tarot readings and trying to help the family make a little money and help people doing it..I was so excited to get to work at home..But I too was paid a total of 14.00 or so and put in 3 pay periods..

My checks that were to be sizeable were "an accident of accounting" and "over looked" I was never paid other than that small check and guess what the readers dont even make very much money! It is about 7.50 per hour and they get around 250.00 or so for what i just did..hummmmm I now consider my self lucky for that one little check..its pretty bad if when you go to a store and here someone in line taking about getting ripped off and not paid just the same like me ..I never knew that us readers are everywhere!

There are many many little companies that are in fact prn and when i was hired I was never even told that we were the Miss Cleo Mind and Spirit so was suprised when my callers were asking for her saying they called her number.

When I asked my group leader about this she told me to say that Miss Cleo and I were best friends and we took each others calls and she had to step out for a few minutes and asked me to take her calls for her.

The Psychics do not see this Cleo person..and god forbid you give your address..my mother did and recieved a letter a day from them. After she died I recieved letters to her saying Miss Cleo had seen her future and there was love and excitement and to call! Imagine that ..The readers are for the most part just people like me who do know the tarot and other things and want to help people and just make money from home, I am a handicapped mother and this was perfect..we did not know that there was any deception..so people need to understand, at least the caller knows when they call that they will be charged for the call and they get someone to listen to them, us readers are the victims

Choctawhatchee Communications no longer has an internet site.....at least not listed at their old one. Also, I, out of curiosity, applied to one of their 'bookstores' as a psychic, and yes I REALLY am one tho I don't plan on following thru with taking the job. I recieved an email back again stating that PRN was bankrupt...also that the 'bookstore' I had applied to was NOT paying anyone and the customers weren't paying their bills.

Seem that whole lawsuit thing only made PRN look reeeeally really bad. But, hey!! If Ms Cleo was really psychic, then she would have seen it coming long before the legal paperwork landed in her lap.

Was really funny in one respect cuz I got a call one day a few yrs ago. It came JUST as I was heading for the door for work. The phone rings....I go answer thinking it's my boss asking me to come in a little late that day. No!! It's some psychic network saying that I supposedly called them and that's how they got an unlisted phone number. My only response was "First of, I never called. Second, if you were REALLY psychic, you would have known NOT to call me right now." And hung up.

As I was pulling the phone away from my ear, you could here her flapping her gums in surprise by the answer. LOL

PRN (Psychic Reader Network) Mind & Spirit w/Miss Cleo-Independant Contracted Manager Susan J. Arnold is a liar and a rip-off scam artist *REBUTTAL (#5861)

They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report:

Their email: noname@noname.com
Their name: PDH

Their relationship to the company: Consumer Suggestion

Rebuttal:
I see that I have put you on the defensive. Well, let me state that you never mentioned in your original report that you were deceived about the types of calls you were hired to take. However, I think you knew what you were getting into prior to accepting any contract or calls.

If I may quote you, "I was contracted by Susan J. Arnold Manager Independant Contractor for PRN, to receive incoming Tarot reading calls for PRN... Susan J. Arnold does not follow rules and does hire inexperienced psychic readers like myself to perform psychic reading."

To any reader of this report, what else are they supposed to gather when they read statements like this? Also, do you lack a common sense to accept a contract without knowing what it's about?

From the way I read it, you negated any justification of your report and any assistance that may be due you. You told on yourself and gave away why you weren't paid. Instead of pretending to be a "tarot psychic" for PRN, it would seem that you instead decided to play counselor(note correct spelling). If I hired someone to do a specific job and they didn't do it,
I wouldn't pay them either.

You did make one correct observation about the comments that I have posted here. My rebuttals are simply my opinion. And, my opinion was formed based on what was written by YOU.

It's funny how your story has changed from your original report. Unfortunately for you, the details that you conveniently left out, but have since revealed, has only hurt your case.

Regardless of what you think, you were part of PRN's scam through your association and participation. It would seem that you did take calls from people. Those calls were most likely charged on a per-minute basis. You were to receive compensation from PRN for your time with your callers.

Would you think that PRN was to pay you from a portion of the charged fee from the calls you were involved in? I do believe so, and that makes you just as guilty. The simple fact that you didn't do what PRN contracted you for is why you weren't paid.

To answer your question, I do not feel sorry for you. Moreover, I pity you. Instead of trying to counsel others, maybe you should try getting career counseling for yourself.

Finally, my life doesn't revolve around flaming you, nor anyone else for that matter. I do on occasion browse these reports, but it's not because I don't have a life. Your post just happened to get my interest and these responses. I, too, think this is funny, and I bet other readers will think so as well. It's obvious that you don't have a case to support your
position. And, since you aren't posting any further comments, I guess that leaves me with the last word in our little disagreement. Ever hear of the missing link? "You are the weakest link... Goodbye!"

*REBUTTAL (#5861)

They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report:

Their email: noname@noname.com

Their name: PDH

Their phone number: @Rebuttal_Phone@

Their relationship to the company: Consumer Suggestion

Rebuttal:

No need to feel sorry for me. I've never called any Psychic hot-line, nor do I ever plan to. The fact is that I do understand that these Psychic hot-lines are scams. It's really sad that there are a lot of people in this world who call these numbers and actually believe that the person on

the other end of the phone has some type of special gift to predict the future. The only gift they have is taking people's money.

Now, my rebuttal to you was in jest, but your response further proves the point I was trying to make. Hopefully, people are reading this and are discovering the truth. Perhaps with sites such as this, people can become better informed and these unscrupulous companies will eventually go out of business.

You complaint all boils down to the fact that you scammed people at a per minute rate and now you are crying wolf because you didn't receive your share of it. No, I don't feel sorry for you. I feel sorry for the people you scammed into believing that you are a true psychic.

Chalk this up as a lesson learned because you know the old saying... What comes around, goes around!

Good Bye!

First of all I am trying to get money due to me, I am sorry you cant understand that. Second I hope people are reading this too, I at no time scammed anyone, I dont own PRN or any Psychic network for that matter, they are the ones who scam people. Yes what goes around comes around and I hope YOU understand that. I really dont care what you have to say, it means nothing to me at all, In fact I think it is funny, you must have nothing better to do. You really think you know alot too..lol. Anyway I wrote this report to get money owed to me from this company I think you are the only one that has a problem with that and the funny thing is you must not have a life to keep going back and read ing this report, get help. Like I said before I was led to believe I was going to be a telephone councelor, (Choctawhatchee Communications) was her Independant name, that is why I decided to do this, in return upon finding out about the company she was affiliated with and what they do, I quit. And by the way I dont get paid by the minute, for your information not that it is any of your business. I think people would agree if you work you should get paid. I felt they scammed people out of money too, but it seems like alot of people call right? So think about it. Again that is why I quit, I wanted no part of it. I also never pretended to be a psychic so again you are WRONG, I tried counciling people with their problems that is why she doesnt want to pay me. You said above you were sorry about my check and now you are not, which is it? I also would like people to be aware of companies like this. I am continuing to pursue my paycheck and open peoples eyes to these types of companies, whatever opinions you have are exactly that OPINIONS. So PDH any responses you have go ahead and leave them I wont be returning to this report I have better things to do. Bye ;)

First, if you truly are psychic, why did you not know in advance or get some bad vibes about PRN scamming you? Could it be that you are really not psychic?

And, if that's the case, who are the ones that have really been scammed?

...Your callers, perhaps?
