My Orthopedic doctor wrote instructions for me to have hot/cold
treatments and muscle stimulation plus therapy. I went in and
they put me on a treadmill and made me walk for 10 minutes then did about 15 minutes of stretch exercises and sent me homw. The next day they called and had to change my appointment. After that they called back and changed it 3 times. When I went for my next appointment I was told to get on the treadmill. I said what about the hot/cold treatment the doctor order? The therapist said I didn't need them. I asked her since when did they determine what I needed when the doctors wrote the orders. I told them good bye and not to contact me ever again..

Insurance compnies may include the coverage

I have been a massage therapist for 9 years; working over 6 of those years in health clubs. The club I work in now also has a physical therapy dept. renting space which is associated with the hospital across the street. I often get clients almost as a last ditch effort to get some relief from the pain that they are experiencing, mainly because massage therapy is still so difficult to get reimbursed for from insurance companies. After even just one treatment from me they nearly always exclaim how they wish they had known about the medical benefits of massage, and why don't insurance companies reimburse for a therapy that actually works? Many insurance companies are beginning to reimburse their clients for massage therapy if it is perscribed by a physician. To find out about your company's policy on this issue, or request for therapeutic massage to be covered under your medical insurance policy, please contact your company's H.R. department. Insurance compnies may include the coverage of therapeutic massage by licensed and certified therapists as a way to attract and/or keep clients in these more stressful times.
