Pro Tel Long Distance Communications ripoff You can't contact them to cancel. Clearwater Florida
Boy do I feel stupid, but here goes my experience. I joined this company called Momswin and needed a good long distance provider. Well I received a call from a lady marketing a new long distance service stating that if I joined their service I would be able to talk unlimited for 39.99 a month (long distance) without changing my service provider. Well my hearing isn't good because I thought she said All Tell Communications. So they took me through the recording of verifying your checking account number and I thought it was legit.
Well I decided to go with Talk America and cancel Pro Tel (which I was told that I could cancel as long as I call their toll free number, when I called the first time I reached a recording prompting me to press 2 for long distance services, I pressed 2 and was on hold for almost 25 minutes. So I hung up. The next day, I had my mom try to call them and she reached the same recording prompting her to press 2 and was on hold for almost an hour. Then she tried a different option of pressing 1 and they referred her to another toll free number, which was disconnected.
Needless to say, I had to pay my Bank to stop payments on any checks that are automatically withdrawn for 39.99 a month. It is 26 dollars to stop payment on a check, but it's worth not having them withdraw every month out of my account.
I don't know what to do. The company was just a scam. I can't get my money back because I don't even think the address they gave me was real.

I just contacted Pro Tel and they offered a refund. Thanks to the gentlemen who gave me the phone number. Maybe it was good old incompetence, I don't know, but at least it is straightened out.

Just so you'll know. The number they listed on the paperwork was 877-844-4565 for customer service, and I was told to call this number in order to cancel my membership. If this is the not the right number, then they should not have given it to me. I have it in writing that they gave me this number.
I will try the other number tomorrow morning, and hopefully will get a refund, if not I will post another negative comment about their company.

I don't know where you got the phone number that you mentioned, but the correct number is 800-634-2979. The offer is ligitimate and anyone who wants a refund, gets it....no questions asked. I know because I answer some of the phone calls.

Get a new checking account

Wouldn't it be easier to cancel your checking account. New checks aren't that expensive and this eliminates any worry of them doing this in the future.
