I have a 1 bedroom apt at six forks station for the past 3 years now....My electric bill for the past 3 months was well over $220...they disconnected me after I made a payment of $140 towards my $216 bill. I told them I would pay the rest in 3 days....they told me to call back when I have the money they wouldnt turn it back on even though I was trying to set up a payment with them....I work for a living I am not standing on the street begging for handouts...my spouse is on workers compensation from a shoulder injury partially disabled and it is hard enough as it is but they will not work with you and they do not care.

Another issue I have is when I put my thermostat to 72 it jumps to 80...what the hell...poor insulated apartments is one thing...I'm trying to set up a d**n payment with them and they will not accept it....this has got to change they need to investigate our meters or maybe the employees of progress energy...please people I tell you another thing I am from NYC we got radiators that heat up the apts and we do not get charged for it..apts made of concrete cynder blocks not paper ply wood.....either way something has got to be done!!

Turn down the heat

You will save about 3% for every 1 degree reduction from 72. Since you have limited funds, put on a sweater, and cut the heat down to about 60-65. If the thermostat is not functioning properly, replace it. You can buy a new one at Lowes or Home Depot for less than $20.
