In July of '08, we received a pizza and movie rebate offer from Promo Designs. We received this promo through a questionable, local, water filtration company, setting up appointments for water testing in our area.

Before using the promo, I investigated it on the internet and found only one complaint, where the woman did eventually get the money back that she was promised.

Although still reluctant, I used the promo, being incredibly careful to follow all the instructions to the letter.

Not surprisingly, we never heard a response or received our rebate after the promised 4 to 6 week wait.

On Sept. 20, 2008, I left message on the company's voicemail and also sent a request online. The voicemail recording said after leaving a message, I would hear from them in writing within 21 days. The voicemail recording states the name of the company as Promo Premiums.

On Oct. 22, 2008, I called again and left a message on the pizza and rebate line AND the executive line, as I had not received a response.

On Oct. 27, 2008, I still had not received a response to my phone calls, so I phoned the original water softening company (Aquativa) to explain my dilemma and ask if they had an alternate number for Promo Designs. I was given a number for Promo Designs/Promo Premiums that they use to order the promos and was told they never had experienced a problem with them before.

On Oct. 28, 2008, I called and left a message, which was the same as the number I had been calling. I left yet another message on the executive line.

Sometime shortly after that (about a week, I believe), I received a phone call from Brian at Promo Premiums. He was kind and looked into the matter on the phone and said they had no record of my rebate. He said he would follow up with the company that processes the rebates for them and get back to me, but it would be at least 7-10 days. I gave him all the relevant information, including my certificate number.

On Nov. 18, 2008, I called and left a message for Brian to say I was following up, as I never heard from him.

On Nov. 25, 2008, I called and left another message for Brian to say I was following up again, as I still had not heard from him.

On Dec. 15, 2008, I still had not heard from him on both of my voicemail messages, so I called the water softening company to see if they could help me somehow.

As of today, Dec. 30th, 2008, I still have not heard from either one of them.

As persistent as I am, I'm sure Promo Designs/Promo Premiums will be delighted to know I am giving up. They will also be delighted to discover I was not able to make a photocopy of my rebate and receipts before sending them in, although I still have the original promo card and certificate number.

At least someone gets paid.

Rebate Response

#2UPDATE Employee

Wed, January 20, 2010

This is in response to this Consumers complaint about their Rebate.

Our Company processes over 30,000 Rebates a year that is distributed by many Sales organizations in the US & Canada.  The Pizza & Movie Rebate is handed to the Consumer as a Gift with no purchase required, just their time for viewing a product demonstration.

Due to volume, our systems have been automated by phone & Internet to respond only when information is matched in our database.  If all inquires where to be answered by operators, this program would not be cost effective since it is not tied to any sale of a product.

As in all Rebates, there are Terms & Conditions to be met.  If a response was not received, then the Terms & Conditions were not met, therefore, a Rebate was not issued.

This automated system is in place to be fair to all Consumers who comply.  We find that those who do not follow the terms are the ones who complain the most.

The Internet site is connected to our Rebate processing company to respond to those who match in our database.  Go to www.PizzaMovieRebate.com for search.

Our company is in business over 10 years and has an A rating by the Better Business Bureau.
