I received a call from 'John McLaw' on June 4, 2004. He had told me that I was approved for a $2500 Visa with a fixed rate of 8.5%. If I paid my bill on time I was due for a credit increase of $500 each year. All it cost was a one time start up fee of $299. I stupidly gave them my DL# and my checking account#. I was really happy because I am going on vacation and I really could use the money. I was then transferred to "Stephanie Matthews for verification of the info and the conversation was recorded. At the end I was given the activation code of 970124. Then I was hung up on. I then tried to call the company back only to hear the 'mailbox was full'.

Something didnt set right with me. I could only remember the partial name "Consumer Credit ...." and I had written down the phone number. I went on my computer and typed in the phone number to find the website only to find that this company is a scam. It is Friday and I am scheduled to be drafted on June 30th. Maybe I can call my bank and ask them to not honor the draft. They can't take out the money because I transfered all of it to other accounts so hopefully I'm ok until Monday.

I feel so stupid now and I will NEVER!!!!! fall for any crap like that again. I am really sad because I thought it would be my first chance to rebuild my credit after a nasty divorce caused me to file Chapter 7. I hope this will save someone else some heart ache and money.

They Still Tried to Scam Me!!! Adam Weild told me that there was a $29 cancelation fee

Someone finally answered the phone for this so called Visa company. I spoke with Adam Weild. I told him I wanted to cancel my membership because I was under the impression that I would get my card in 15 days. He said that I was misinformed and he was very rude to me.

He told me that I couldnt cancel until the next day because the database was closed. I asked him what the process was and he said they just cancel the membership. Well, I called the next day and I managed to get this Adam Weild again and told him that I wanted to cancel and he tells me that there was a $29 cancelation fee. I told him that I was never informed of any cancellation fee and that I wasnt going to pay.

He put me on hold for about 10 seconds and came back and said that there would be no charge. I called my bank to warn them about this company, but of course they cant do anything until after the fact. I've kept my money in another account so if they do take money, it will be the bank's, not mine.

I still feel like an idiot for falling for something like this and thank goodness for this website. Otherwise they'd be $300 richer
