Promotional Discount Offers Discount Offers ripoff They have destroyed my desire to ever have a credit card Champlain New York
I was first conatcted by Promotional Discount Offers in late January, right as I was ready to begin working at my seasonal job. I had just moved to a new city and had opened the first checking account I've had in years. I thought this company had gotten my name from my new bank.
They offered me an unsecured credit card worth $2500. I was elated! In the past few years I have slowly been working my way out of debt and thought my smart money management had been noticed. They told me that a one time fee of $300 was to be deducted from my checking account, I willingly gave all my information and happily awaited my new card. I had never had credit before. I was excited. I guess I just trust people too much.
The pre-appointed day arrived and I hadn't yet received my first check. I went to my bank expecting an overdraw fine, instead I found that the direct deposit of my tax refund had gone in, and over the long president's day weekend part of it had gone back out.
A month later I received a thick packet of papers in the mail along with a book on credit management. I called the number I had been given and talked to a polite young man who told me to wait a few more days and I would be getting a manila envelope with my credit card info. When that arrived it turned out to be two applications with a bank for one each of a secured and unsecured credit card. I sent off the app for the latter of the two and waited.
A week later I got a call from the credit card offering bank. They also wanted my account information to "secure" my new card. Fortunately I was standing in line at the bank and told them I was uncomfortable reciting my info over the phone at that particular point in time. They said they would call back. They never did.
Finally I packaged all the useless paper up and sent it back to the company with an irate letter. The return policy listed said I could return it at any time. "Within ten days of receiving your returned package we will refund your money, except for a processing fee of $49.95." I never saw a dime.
I have been unable to get ahold of anyone at the phone number I have. Finally I did a google search on the name and the only site I found was this one.
I'm taking those bastards down if it's the last thing I do.
They have destroyed my desire to ever have a credit card and a decent portion of my faith in humanity.
