I rented here from to Feb 03 Aug 03. Paid 1,000 to get out of the lease early. They kept my deposit, and never notified me of the reasons (against colorado statutes), THEN... 6 MONTHS later, they send a bill for another $300. They want me to pay for things the Colorado Laws say are "normal wear and tear"....
They refused to go with me to inspect the apt when I left, are trying to stick me with painting, carpet cleaning, general cleaning, etc. (I used the same company they do for steam cleaning the carpet) According to law landlords are supposed to:
Refund your deposit within 30 days of vacancy, OR give you a formal letter with a list of why they kept your money.
They are NOT allowed to charge you for normal cleaning. They MUST paint apts between tenants. OR, AS A CONSUMER, YOU MAY SUE THEM FOR TRIPLE DAMAGES.
I am considering a class action lawsuit, and would like to hear from any other folks who have been ripped off by BRE Management.
