I am writing to report my experience with Proton LED. From what I have read, everyone else reporting on this site has experienced similar issues with Proton LEd of Lyons, Georgia. I am glad to see that I am not an isolated case and would welcome joining a class action lawsuit. To be brief I had troubles with Proton from day one. I was promised delivery of said sign within 6 weeks of deposit and did not receive my sign for 14 weeks. It was impossible to get through to anyone to find out status of production and delivery and no one would return phone calls or e-mails. Upon reaching a newly hired phone operator at Proton I was told "one more week" for four weeks. I can understand production delays, but upon arrival of the sign and installation we have had nothing but problems such as the following:
1. The "brain" had to be replaced after one week due to the sign not working at all upon arrival
2. Communicating with the sign is inconsistent at best and requires continual powering down of the sign and restarting.
3. The software was corrupt and had to be reinstalled
4. Upon arrival two led section had to be replaced as they were faulty
5. The does not do anything that it is supposed to do according to sales and the website
6. Horrible reolution and freezing of the internal computer and display
7. Had to replace the wireless router after two months
8. I have scenes that cannot be deleted
9 Only half of the scenes uploaded actually load
10. The sign will shut off by itself or freeze inconsistently

Those are just a few of my complaints. At one point it took me three months to get technical support to call me back after about 30 messages and e-mails and calls to Paul Catignoni. Regardless of minimal technical assistance the sign never did and is still not working properly, I cannot get through to Proton or get a return phone call. I was told that they will not service it, but only send me parts to install or change myself. Since Steve, their technical guy will not return phone calls or e-mail it is therefore immpossible to resolve my problems. My lower leds do not work at all now and if you call Proton the phone is either out of order or calls are being blocked. Paul Catignoni's cell phone is also not apparently working and there is no longer the annoying as hell proton messaging center. Basically I have a $10,000 digital reader board that works inconsistently. I should have and will always regret not going with Daktronics or a reputable company, but I guess you live and learn. I welcome any and all attempts at a class action lawsuit and please feel free to contact me to do so.

We too have had dealings with this scam outfit. We're $30,000 into them and have one sign that we have tried to repair SEVERAL times that only gets worse with each effort. They refuse to respond, refuse to refund deposits on cancelled orders and have zero follow thru.

And their signs are obsolete, poorly designed pieces of crap.

It's always our fault in their view.

We will be in contact regarding your class action suit and complaints, and will follow up on our own as well.

I am also a victim of Proton LED. We purchased a sign in September of 2006. We received the sign in Feb of 2007. The sign didn't even power up. They had to send us a new "brain" on our dime. That one didn't work either. The images were ghosted. The claim by Mark Brazel from Proton was the "brain" was still bad. They got us yet another one on our dime. That one had the images correct but the sign had about 25 leds that didn't light up so there are big holes in the images. The sign finally quit powering up all together and we were never able to get into the sign to upload images. The only one we could upload images to was the second "brain". Even after getting images to it they never displayed correctly. The images were ghosted and out of proportion. We spent over a year trying to get this sign working to no avail. We finally contacted an attorney. Proton's response was for us to pay to send the sign back to them and they would fix it or we could buy a new sign. We were unwilling to spend anymore money to fix a product that never worked from the beginning. We are currently putting together a class action lawsuit. So far we have over 15 companies and individuals that have been treated the same way by Proton LED. The product was not as represented, nor did it work, nor would they honor their warranty on the sign. We paid outright for our sign before taking delivery so Proton can't claim any fraud on our part. If you are interested in participating in a class action lawsuit please contact me at 325 437-1660. We need everyone to get involved if we are going to put a stop to the practices of this company. Be prepared. If you call me I will be forwarding your information to both the FBI and the Georgia State Attorney's Office. I have initiated criminal complaints with both offices and investigations are under way. This many similar complaints shows a pattern of criminal fraud. Not to mention the fact that it crosses state and country boundries. I have been in contact with several people from other countries that purchased signs from them as well. One other note. The fact that Proton LED incorporated recently doesn't give them protection from our lawsuit as they believe it does. Especially those of us that purchased our signs before they incorporated!
