I purchased a TaoTao scooter from this company in April 2013. I was looking for a good scooter at a good price (because we don't have a lot of $) for commuting to work instead of buying a second car. I thought I did my research and was not troubled by the fact that the scooter came with "some assembly required." It was the price for saving money. What I wasn't prepared for was the total lack of support once I bought the scooter.

The scooter was shipped almost immediately (I took delivery within 10 days) but it took them almost 2 months to sent the MCO (without which the scooter is useless). I finally got it registered and started riding it, only to find out that the speedometer is defective. Also, it got knocked over by my dog (my fault, I know), and now it has a rattle. Within the first 3 weeks, the trunk flew off while I was riding-after triple checking that all bolts were secure. I have no idea how many miles are on it because the speedo and the odometer work together.

All these things I can understand, after all it is a machine and sometimes they have bugs. What I can't deal with is that there is NO phone number (except a sales only #) for this company, and all emails have gone unanswered. I SUPPOSEDLY have a 6 month warranty, but it's more than half gone and I still haven't gotten hold of an employee to fix the problems. I went to a local dealer to get help (I should say the ONLY local dealer who will work on TaoTaos), and while they were very nice, and helpful, they won't check it out because there is a liability issue when you purchase online. They will do the repair work, but they charge $80/hr, and that's only to fix the minor stuff that's wrong right now (and it will still come to almost $200).

I'm urging anyone who is looking- PLEASE don't buy from Proven Powersports!!!! It costs extra, but you NEED a reputable dealer who you can talk to face to face and who will guarantee what they sell! I was hoping to save money, and instead I've already spent more than I would have if I'd gone to a dealership in the first place- and I STILL have a BRAND NEW scooter with a defective speedometer and a rattle! Don't learn the hard (and expensive!) way- BUY LOCAL!!!!
