Complaint Review: PROVIDIAN/EMERGE

We had a providian visa account. I asked if there was a plan to go on so my payments would be easier. The next thing I got was a letter stating that our account was sold to emerge.

I called to ask why and they said Providian was going out of business. When emerge took over the intrest rates went up.

This is how Providian helped me with my bill, they sent it to emerge and raised my rates.

At the same time as the switch, I decided to go with a debt consolidation company.

Was not late or over due on anything.

1st thing emerge did was call to tell me I was late from my Providian account. I was not.

Then I had to write emerge saying I was going on debt plan and to call them with any questions.

They kept calling me.

Debt company told me to send them 20$ til my account was activated.

They still kept calling me.

Told debt company,they said they would send them a cease and desist letter. They kept calling me.

Found out debt company was a fraud and I would have to sue to get my money back.Called emerge to tell them that I needed a letter of what the debt company did or did not do on my behalf.

They would not send it. This was DEC 5th. through must hasseling I finally got letter Feb.4th and was not what I asked for.

Also on Dec 5th I told them to not have any dealings with debt company and to ignore any proposals from them.
When I got letter, it stated that they accepted a proposal from them on Jan 19th. Also said that payments being made exceeded the minimum payment.Well no kidding.

Since Oct 2002, I have sent emerge 1254$ out of our pocket plus they were getting money from a debt company I cancelled on Dec 5th.

How is this possible?

They are rude,don't care,uncooperative and just plain horrible.

They should be made to pay my entire account off because that is how much grief they gave me.
