I have a Providian credit card and always pay my bill on line and on time! I have never been late with a payment. I had a payment that was due on 7 Sept 03, unfortunately this was a few days before hurricane Isabel was due to slam into us! The place was a total nightmare with people buying supplies, generators, plywood etc.....

Areas were being manditorily evacuated and everyone was trying to prepare for her! To make a long story short she hit us and hit us hard, over 2 million people were without power most for many days and some for up to 2 weeks, we were declared a federal disater area and the damage done was in the billions. When my power came back on and I was able to log on one of the first things I did was to make my payment. Now I do not just make the minimum payment but normally twice the amount due!

A couple of days later I received my statement in the mail and saw that I had been charged a $35 late fee! When I called them to explain what had happened they were very uncaring! They finally did agree to credit the late fee back but that they were going to put a permanent note in my file to NEVER credit back another late fee and that it would affect my interest rate!

Now keep in mind that I have never been late with a payment before and have had the account for a couple of years. You can rest assured that I will be paying this off and telling them what they can do with their card!
