When we bought our used car, Public Motors talked us into an expensive ($1400) service contract that would cover just about any problem.  A couple of years later, the car needed a repair that should have been covered.  When the mechanic called the contracted insurance company, they had never heard of us.

Contacted Public Motors to find out what was going on, and they had taken the contract out with a different insurance company, but it was supposed to have identical terms.  The mechanic contacted the new insurance company, but they said they only cover the power train.

Contacted Public Motors again, and they said they would send a check to the insurance company to upgrade the policy.  The insurance company never received the check, and we ended up having to pay for the repair, along with the $1400 (plus interest) for the service contract we paid for and didn't get.  Meanwhile, we also spent two weeks without the car, waiting for Public Motors to answer their phones or return calls.
