I began renting a 10 X 10 unit from Public Storage November 2010 until May 2012. I was homeless during that time with my three children. After about 6 months of storing I got a month behind on payment but went in to pay before they could auction my things. i was told by the manager that day they went into my unit to take inventory because I was behind. At that time I thought that was how they did things so I didn't say anything. I paid my bill and was sold a new lock and was escorted to my unit to place the new one. We finally got our own place in April 2012 and went to the storage to retrieve our items. Once we got there we noticed that upon opening our unit things were moved around but we had a few earthquakes so we figured that was the reason.  In the past few weeks as we are putting things in their place in our new apartment we noticed that items were missing. I then made a list and called the storage. I was told to call the insurance company which I did the woman took my statement and told me a claims person would call me in 48 hours. It only took 24 hours for the call from insurance claims. I was told at that time my claim was denied because there was no forced entry. During the time I was storing I had a baby and placed his baby memory book in the unit and tragically my sister passed away January 2011. I was left with some of her items and those were also put into my unit. A laptop is missing....a total of 25 items and or boxes are missing...but I could care less about most of those things I just want my babies things and my memories of my sister. Those items cant be priced. I refuse to let them get away with this. Public Storage needs to do something to rectify this situation.
