I received a contract from PublishAmerica a year and half ago. My husband, parents and friends read it and it seemed legitimate. However, when my book was published, they put the wrong name on my book, as well would not allow books to be returned from bookstores. Their contract states they are a traditional publisher and not a POD, which is a lie. They have NO books in stock; they print them when demand calls for it, which is POD.

When I e-mailed them of my concerns, they brushed me aside. They have my rights for seven years and my book has not made one dime!! They refuse to give me back my rights.

In their ads, they claim to only accept 20% of submitted manuscripts and yet they recieve 800 manuscripts a year and publish 760-It is a lie!

They also say they will edit your work-they don't. When I got back my proofs, there were numerous corrections I had to make and the "editors" didn't do jack!

This company has ripped off many many authors in their scheme to get rich off of author's books, when it reality, most of the books would never make it in a bookstore, because of their heavily unedited, mistaken ridden books.

What is sad is that I have a nice book that sits on my shelf, because I can't do anything with it; I can't host book signings because bookstores will not accept POD books! It is heart-breaking for authors to work so hard at their books and then have a company take them and rip them apart!

I hope more people come out against this company and they get their just desserts, before more people are sucked into their web of lies and deceit.

They deceive people by giving them a $1 advance and that is supposed to mean they are traditional. Someone must stop them for ripping people off!

Thank you.

When I made this report, back in 2005, I put my personal number, not the company. Please remove this number off the report, since it was an error on my part.

Thank you.
