I received their call at my place of work at the time. I was busy working not paying attention to detail and verbally agreed to have the magazines. Not knowing what I was getting myself into.

I first received a bill from them in the amount of $32.00. I received a small overview of my verbal agreements via telephone. Still not fully understanding what I had gotten myself into.

After not sending a check or making a payment on-time; I received a call at my place of business, hounding me for a payment. It was at that time I was verbally reviewed of my contract of 5 years for a total of $900 and some odd dollars! I was also informed at this time I could not cancel.

They would continue to call me because I would fail to make their payments on-time. I later called and spoke with someone other than my representative I was assigned. She was a very rude woman and told me I was unable to cancel because I made the account active by making a 1st payment!

This woman was not helpful at all. Telling me I had to call back the following business day when my rep would be in and speak to him about a cancellation, which I did. He told me as well that I could not cancel but I could be done sooner by making larger payments and only having magazines for 2 1/2 years vs. 5.

I thought this was better so I agreed to it. I did not make the 1st lump some payment at that time because I wanted to wait. After speaking with my mother about it; whom I live with, she told me not to and that they were a scam.

From that point on I have avoided their calls at all possibilities. I had to tell my fellow employees if they called looking for me to tell them I no longer work there. I avoid answering my house phone in fear it will be them.

I made the mistake recently of answering my house phone thinking it was my mom calling from work. It wasn't, it was them; Publishers Business Services. I did not know that at the time though, they disguised themselves saying they were P.B.S. like the television station.

I didn't understand why the Public Broadcasting Station would be calling me. The gentleman that called me was very nice, nicer than the usual call I had gotten, but I soon found out who P.B.S. was. I was enraged, but asked to cancel. He again informed me I was not eligible for that.

So, you see, I am being put into collections now because of them. I am now returning all magazine articles, and not returning phone calls or responding to their bills. This is ridiculous!

What right do they have to not allow a cancellation? I am entitled to cancel if I am not fully satisfied and the fact that I was taken advantage of and hounded at a business. They phoned a business!

I do not need my credit screwed because of them. I had good credit and my not anymore due to their careless antics. Please help me.
