I am a long-time subscriber to "Threads" magazine distributed by Taunton Press.  I always renew my subscription for three years each time, so I was surprised to recieve a "Notice of Renewal" from Publishers Billing Association.  My renewal is not due for another year, and I always deal directly with the magazine.

According to the notice, I could "lock in the lowest rate we can offer" a $72.00 for one year!  This is nearly 3 times what I normally pay.

I called customer service at "Threads" and asked about this billing company. I was told that PBA is not authorized to bill for their magazines.  I also wanted to know how PBA got their mailing list, since many of my friends who also get this magazine had also gotten renewal notices.  I was told that they "were looking into it."

Calls to Publishers Billing Association customer service number gets a recording saying "all our lines are busy, please contact us by e-mail or call back at another time." The voice mailbox does not allow the caller to leave a message. So, there is no way to talk to a warm body at PBA.  Big surprise there!
