I was contacted by American Publishers, LLC in December 2011. They told me I had one a $250 Walmart gift card from Visa and they just wanted to include some magazines with it claiming to be helping out those magazine companies by circulating them in my area.

After repeatedly asking if I was being entered into any obligation, they said I was not and did not have to keep the magazines and could cancel at any time. Was transferred to a "supervisor" and asked to put in a good word for her performance. The "supervisor" got my credit card number, claiming she had to verify I was still a valid cardholder (stupid on my part for not catching the scam) and after asking if I was authorizing a transaction, she said I was not.

Was called again by another supervisor, I requested to cancel any order they had placed, she said I could not cancel. I cancelled my card and she said that was ok, they had already pre-authorized the transaction (which I was told before that I was not authorizing anything) and there was nothing I could do about it. She was very rude and told me I was not under verbal contract with them and could not cancel and am obligated to pay them for 20 months of shipping charges. She then hung up on me.

I called back, spoke to a Holly, who told me she did not know the cancellation policy and could not give me any information and that some other person would call me and I would have to ask them. By law they have to disclose cancellation policies but they refused to do that. I've filed a complaint with the BBB who has already received hundreds of complaints on this same company. Filing a complaint with my State Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission, and contacting a lawyer.

These people must be stopped, everything they say and do is 100% illegal by FTC laws. DO NOT give them your information and fall into the trap!

I also was contacted by American Publishing and was promised the same things. I did however because I am persistent. Get a supervisor and the General Manager. Who have both promised that my order has been canceled and I am being refunded. The General Manager Kim, when I asked for the physical address refused to give it to me.

She said I canceled my order and that I am being refunded. Also offered a letter to confirm that information. I have also reported them to my bank. I unfortunately am unable to file a report on them here. Due to the fact they refuse to give an address. It should be noted that I was not offered cancellation and refund, until I said that I had looked them up and see several complaints going back almost a year on them.
