I went to purchase the 2015 Chevy Express from Punete Hills NIssan which I found the vehicle on their website and autotrader.com.  They would not sell the vehicle at the advertised price. I was dumbfounded at the experience. They told me I either add the accessory protection package (paint, upholstery, dent protection) or I cannot purchase the vehicle at the advertised price. The sticker options as well as options listed on the internet did not contain the package. It was never on the car as a option and they were telling me I needed to purchase the package and they would apply it to the vehicle. I did not want to buy it and have it applied to the car. I wanted to buy the car "AS IS" according to its listed options and sticker price and they refused to sell it to me.  I can understand paying for a protection package if it was already applied to the vehicle.

It would have been reflected in the price and shown on the added options on their website and on the sticker in the window. To tell a customer they cannot purchase the car at the listed price is outlandish and I think Illegal. The salesman and internet manager informed me "they need to make money on the deal" If I did not buy the protection package and have it put on the vehicle, I would not be able to purchase the vehicle. There was no issue with negotiaing the price of the vehicle, financing,etc..  After their attempts to manipulate the price and payments so it still included the Protection package failed, I asked one last time to purchase the vehicle for the advertised price and was told no. Now I am out 4 hours of my time and wondering if this is illegal and how to go about pursuing leagl action for their business practice. This is no longer about the vehicle, it is about justice being served and Puente Hills Nissan and The Brown Auto Group being held resposible for this business practice.

It sounds like a bait and switch

What you describe in your post sounds like a bait and switch to me since you were unable to actually buy the vehicle at the advertized price. I hope you have a copy of the ad and any disclaimers that may, or may not, be in the ad.

I'm not sure which agency would handle this type of complaint but do some research to find out which would be the appropriate agency. This type of auto sales fraud needs to be stopped in my opinion. Only a true substantial backlash from consumers will put a stop to this type of scam. Auto dealers get away with it because there are customers that fall for it every day.
