On December 3, 2004. My fiance surprised me with a 5 1/2 month old Shitzu puppy from puppy depot. Bailey is a lively, lovable, active and incredibly happy dog. I noticed that evening that he was constantly scratching at his ears and coughing. I knew he had kennel cough.

Reading the paperwork that Anthony brought home from Puppy Depot, I noticed he was on 2 medications. Flagryl & Albon. So I looked them up on the internet. One is for a bacterial infection the other is for irritable bowel diease?? What is this? I then tried to schedule an appointment with the "Vet" they indicated. Not to release the name of the vet I went to since they have Coram, Commack, Hauppauge, etc.. (which is affilated with them.) They advised me that Bailey has: 1. Kennel Cough, 2. Dual ear infections, 3. Both ears are highly infested with ear mites 4. A heart mumor, 5. and teeth problems. The vet advised me that Puppy Depot has a bad rap and that they should not be selling dogs like this.

Bailey was sick. They indicated to me that they are treating a lot of dogs from puppy Depot who have kennel cough and intestinal parasites. My luck Bailey's stool sample came back negative. The vet stated that the reason Puppy Depot puts the dogs on Flagrl & Albon is because they have a bad rap and regardless if the dog has intestinal parasites or not, they do it as a CYA! I have a signed contract from Puppy depot that this dog has no illness or herediary problem. Which is a breach of contract as Bailey has both. - So what do I do.. I recently lost my beloved Lhasa Apso of 14 years (purchased from a breeder) and did not want to see a dog suffer or be returned to live his life in a puppy mill and get sicker or when someone else comes to purchase him finds what I find and returns him again. That's no life for a dog and the dog does not deserve to be treated that way.

So I chose.. I am keeping Bailey and doing the medications twice a day and hoping he gets better. --- I DO NOT RECOMMEND PUPPY DEPOT TO ANYONE. After finding out about Puppy Depot I did searches on line and there are so many of us who have experienced a purchase dog a sick dog from them, some live on and some die. They need to be stopped! I read somewhere that the ASPCA came in and closed them down for a while but they are back open and selling sick dogs.

Both Puppy Depot and Yuppy Puppy since they are owned by the same people. I am in the legal field and am looking into The ASPCA, PETA or filing a class action lawsuit since there are so many of us. -
To those of you who are in the same situation as me or have lost a puppy my heart goes out to you.

My first instinct, Steven is that you work for or own Puppy Depot and are trying to clear your poor image...which is true.

Why is it that on Long Island if you say the 2 words "Puppy Depot" people cringe? Because we know they sell puppy mill dogs. Steven, do you know what a Puppy Mill dog is? Well maybe you should google it.

Yes dogs are like people, they will get sick from time to time but we're talking about selling dogs with a guarenteed "clean bill of health". Dogs that have birth defects. I'm not talking about kennel cough or worms because we all know a dog can pick those up from anywhere. But enlarged kidneys, sever underbites/overbites, heart murmers, epilepsy? These are conditions that loving breeders that know what they're doing don't breed in a puppy.

If you have an adult dog with birth defects you're not going to breed it with the chance that their puppies are going to carry it. That's just having a brain in your head and a heart that beats warm. Puppy Depot along with most puppy stores sell puppy mill dogs. The mothers and fathers are neglected, over bred, mistreated and treated poorly. Their living conditions is a breeding ground for more then just puppies; disease.

So before you go sticking up for them (because you are probably affiliated) you should shut your mouth. They're evil. We all know this.

GREED is DISGUSTING when it hurts something that can't stand up for itself.

And if Puppy Depot is so reputable why do they tell you they'll give you a free visit to the Coram Animal Clinic where you dog is given a clean bill of health and then when you take it to another vet miraculously they find all these sicknesses and defects?

Answer me any one of THOSE questions...Steven!

Almost 8 years ago now I received a male golden retriever puppy for a Christmas gift which was purchased from the Puppy Depot in Coram, NY. A week later, on my birthday, I purchased a female golden from the same place. My pups are the healthiest, most wonderful dogs I could have asked for, and the folks at the Puppy Depot were great. The rap these folks are getting is just not fair.

I have read several negative comments about the Puppy Depot. Let me ask these individuals a question if I may. Do dogs not get sick? Why are there so many veterinarians in business? What about the hundreds upon hundreds of healthy, well-bred puppies that the Puppy Depot sells? One individual spoke of working for a veterinarian, and stated that all of the puppies she sees from the Puppy Depot are sick. What about the other puppies from the newspaper or from breeders that she deals with? She wouldn't have a job if only Puppy Depot puppies were the only ones sick!

I feel for those who have had puppies with problems, but all puppies can have problems. That's why they get shots. That's why they should be checked yearly by a veterinarian. Several have mentioned genetic defects concerning their puppies. Do your children get sick? Are they or you genetically perfect? Does that mean you should get shut down from having children if you have a child with a disease or a deformity? When was the last time you were in a hospital? Ever heard of a nosocomial infection? People get sick with hospital acquired pneumonia. Does that mean they aren't taken care of in the hospital? Because a child develops cancer, does that mean that the parents were genetically imperfect?

Most of what I have read is nonsense regarding this topic, and lacks common sense. It appears to be nothing more than emotional rambling. Certainly, my heart goes out to folks who have lost a beloved puppy, but you can't blame the Puppy Depot for that. They do their best to sell healthy puppies, but sometimes, things go wrong. My goldens are healthy, happy, and beautiful. They were Puppy Depot puppies.

I would suggest that instead of riding this emotional roller coaster and blaming the pet store for your misfortune, you should exercise some common sense and consider the facts. Puppies get sick, and they are not all from the Puppy Depot. The folks at Puppy Depot love pets, and do the best they can to sell healthy animals. If I lived on Long Island again, I would have no problem going to them to get a puppy.

I do not sell dogs. I never have and never will. I'm in Florida, not New York. I am legally affiliated with the big companies, not small rip-off companies like Puppy Depot. My store has a "The" in front of "Puppy Depot." I appreciate and fully understand your stance on what Puppy Depot has been doing, however lashing out at my business is quite unnecessary.
The point of my original comment was to say that "The Puppy Depot" is in no way associated with "Puppy Depot." Thank you.

And what is your claim for no affiliation? Gee....this snickers bar is not related to that snickers bar in any way.

Never ever buy from a shop...you will get a no-good dog no matter what they say. I'd rather buy from a newspaper ad.
