I just found this website and very happy to tell my story.

My Husband and I wanted a Wiemariner dog and I found Puppy Love of Virginia in the Washington Post paper. The woman was a good talker about the pups. On my way to get our dog (2 hour trip) she calls me on my cell to tell me he seems kind out sniffly but he was outside today when it rained so I think that is it".

My husband and I got to her house where we sadly saw a ton of dogs in little pens that looked sickly. When she brought our dog out him and his sister didn't look so good. I immediately turned to my husband and said 'we have to save him'. We specifically asked her if the dog is sick will she pay us back. She said YES and it is in writing on the application. Well, he was VERY sick. His immune system was very low and had some strange intestinal track problem from drinking feasied water.

After several hundred dollars worth of medical treatment and sadness for our dog, he lived. He lived, however the vet said he wasn't looking good. We called this women and she said yes I will credit your MasterCard. She NEVER did, NEVER returned calls and it is very sad.

These people don't need to be in operation and she can call us liars all she wants but the fact is. We have papers to prove what happened. If anyone is interested in pursing a lawsuit my husband and I are in. Even if it is just shutting them down!!

ALL those animals were sick. Not just my baby!

Thanks for reading and listening, I am looking forward to her coming back to this message.

not the first time such conditions have been reported

"Katie" (something tells me this is fake name and response), there are three other reports on this board for Puppy Love. One other (besides the one I initially quoted) also says the dog had distemper. The other says mange, ringworm, ruptured eye and kennel cough. The original author of the post we are both responding to stated that the condition of the dogs at the "shop" was atrocious! This is not the first time such conditions have been reported.

If you've bought 5 dogs in 8 years.....sounds to me like you run a puppy mill yourself. In which case, I am willing to bet that some of these pups come from YOU! Distemper is FATAL AND HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS! I wish the author of the other post had not dropped it but rather had filed the complaints I mentioned. That place needs to be closed down for the sake of LIVING ANIMALS. Also, this shop is not USDA licensed or certified or anything. Number One because USDA doesn't handle pet shops (APHIS would handle these things) and number two- they are EXEMPT from regulations! Go look at the website yourself. So you didn't call to verify ANYTHING. And APHIS couldn't tell you ONE WAY OR THE OTHER WHERE THOSE PUPPIES ARE COMING FROM!

Hmmmmmm.....I wonder if "Katie" is really "Jennifer" or "Jamie", the owner of Puppy Love? "Jennifer" responded to the other post and made clear EXACTLY what she is. A slimy dealer of domestic pups who purchases her dogs from mills for cheap money in order to make at least a few hundred dollars PER PUP without any concern for the health and well being of these animals. She needs to be stopped and BANNED FROM EVER SELLING OR OWNING ANOTHER ANIMAL FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE. Jail time would probably be appropriate, too.

I really hope someone has the guts to push this down in VA.

I don't need a hobby, "Katie". But you need to stop condoning and supporting these activities.

Well I have read the other report made by Jennifer in reference to her dachshund and everything looks to be settled with her. These people who work there are very understanding and I find it hard to believe that they never helped Cari. When I purchased my first puppy I was a little skeptical on purchasing through a pet shop. I must have called them atleast 3 times a day for the first week with what I am sure was stupid questions to them but they were very nice and had many great ideas for a first time pet owner. They were a great help and I have referred many people to them who have been 110% satisfied with the way they care for there puppies and there great customer service. I just find that you have nothing better to do with your time than make other people out to be monsters. Again I have purchased puppies from these people before and know what they are about. When I purchased each puppy I was given a written copy of there health guarantees, copy of there first vet check, vaccine information, and all the breeders information where I could contact the breeders myself. Believe it or not I did just that and they answered every one of my questions I had for them and even gave me there USDA number which I then contacted the United States Department of Agriculture to check and make sure they were not puppy mills that I was dealing with and each breeder was in good standing with them. I do feel that puppy mills need to be shut down but I do not think that is the case with Puppy Love. You are going on one sided stories here and really dont know if that is what happened with Cari. Hopefully Puppy Love will read this and rebuttle just like with Jennifer and hopefully can settle there differences once and for all. I feel for you Karen and what happened in the past with you and your dog but maybe you should be writing about your bad experence and the person that sold the dog to you. You know everything first hand in that matter and you could help someone from making the same mistake in the future.

Take the dog to the vet IMMEDIATELY!

Print out a copy of the report below and your report and bring them with you to the vet. They need to know what they are potentially dealing with up front. The dog will DEFINITELY need to be checked for distemper as a pup from them was diagnosed as having this. It is FATAL:

http://www.ripoffreport.com/view.asp?id=60334

You should NOT have bought the dog. You should have walked away when you saw the conditions the dogs were in. Based on your report and the other one, I have reason to believe that these pups come from puppy mills and that they all (including this company) need to be SHUT DOWN. The owners need to be banned from EVER selling any animal ever again.

File complaints concerning what you saw with the local animal control officer, the SPCA, the AG of your state and contact news outlets in your area.

The owners of this company will fight you tooth and nail about reimbursing you for anything. As a matter of fact, they make sure that they don't have to reimburse you for vet bills relating to any treatment to correct the health issues (or to put the dog down.....you may end up having to do that). Just take a look at the contract you signed. The verbal means NOTHING. The written contract supercedes it.

Get ready for the fun.......

I have purchased many dogs there before and have had NO problems with them

I live in the Stafford area and have been to there old location in Woodbridge and there new location in Stafford many times. I have purchased 5 puppies from them over the past 8 years and have had no problems at all. Everytime I am there they have clean and happy puppies that have food and "fresh water". Now I know when they sell puppies they offer health guarentees with them which is actually Virginia State Law and should have been on the paper work that they gave you. In Virginia you have to give a 10 day basic health guarentee and if the dog is found unfit for sale it MUST be returned (according to the sales contract they make you sign at time of sale) and you MUST be reimbursed fully for the animal. Did you ever call them and tell them what was going on with him? They do have a 24 hour line you can reach them. I am not trying to be rude but I just dont understand how you can make them out to be so bad when they have brought so much joy into my life.
