I had been a member of Pure Fitness for quite a few years as is my husband. I enjoyed working out there, but then I purchased Wii Fit and Active and didn't go any longer to the club. I went in to cancel my membership and was convinced to go another 3 months which I did and paid for at that time. But, then I was charged another payment before the 3 months was up. I went into the club and cancelled my membership and I have the paperwork. I have received 2 bills saying that I owe for continued membership.

When I called and said I had cancelled and that the manager Randy was the one who signed the cancellation they told me to bring that in. I shouldn't have to go in and waste my time and gas when I already cancelled.
I had a fantastic rate for my membership ($10/mo) which I always paid upfront for a year and received 3-6 months free. I was not unhappy with the club until I cancelled. Now, it is becoming a nightmare with them saying it could go to collections. Plus, just for the pure exasperation, I want my $10.17 back that they took from my account.

Be careful when joining this club or any club. Month to month is a definate scam.

If you have not already made things right, here is what you need to do.

1- If you cancel anything, with anyone, always save the copy (which I just read that you did, good job.)

2-When not wanting to go into the club, make yourself accessible to a fax machine (it may seem tedious but to prove that the error is their fault they need to see the documentation)

**Bring or fax your cancellation form (call club for fax number, or contact me. I forgot it.)

That copy is your proof. As long as the last bill date signed by you is NOT the date of the payment you are disputing, then it is their error and you will be refunded and cancelled without penalty.

Like almost any cancellations, Pure Fitness's contracts are written with terms and conditions that most people do not read, unfortunately. They do normally ask for 30 days notice to cancel, in which they allow you access to the club and sometimes can even give a friend a month's pass if you are unable to attend.
