Purity 12 Colon Cleanse Charged credit card after order cancelled Nationwide
On 3/10/09 I ordered a trial bottle of Purity 12, reading ALL the fine print before ordering. As promised, I was charged a small shipping fee, and was given 14 days from the day I ordered to try the product. After 14 days, I found the product to have no measuable effect, and at 8:30 AM on March 24, 2009, I called to cancel. I did document who I spoke with, and received a confirmation number, as I always carefully document. However, I misplaced that information. I also cancelled another product just before cancelling this one and have the detailed information of that call. So, for my own personal sanity, I have a solid reference to the day and the process. I do have my phone record showing the date and time I called Purity 12 as well.
On March 31, I discover I had a $79.63 charge to my card from Purity 12. I called and spoke with Cody, ID#5050 who told me she had confirmation of my cancellation by Brittany on March 30th. I explained to her that I called the previous week to cancel the order and that they charged my debit card again yesterday. She stated that she only had record of my cancellation on March 30th. She then asked who I spoke with or a confirmation #. UGH!
I explained my phone records, that I do have confirmation of when I canelled and I called a week ago, not yesterday. (This is why I always document and keep record of my calls/account issues- bad timing to lose one). She insisted that she only had record of my call from the 30th, but she would issue a credit.
I explained that the charge created 2 overdrafts in my account, and that I'd like that those charges credited as well. She stated that she could only credit my account for the amount they charged, and they were not liable for overdraft charges. I pleaded my case by stating that our contractual agreement was that I had 14 days to try their product and cancel. I did so as requested and therefore they should not have even charged my card again.
I realized that I was not getting anywhere, and explained to Cody that I was calling my bank/credit card company and would have them charge these OD fees back to them. She stated again that they were not liable for O/D.
I called by bank and they told me that I could call them back when the credit was issued, and they would credit me any O/D fees due to this error on Purity12.
This is the gamble you take when "free" trial periods are offered. Even when you take great pains to read the fine print, you are still taking a gamble. Do not lose your documentation. I take offense to the company representative telling me that I only cantacted them on the 30th, when I know for certian that I called a week ago. We'll see how soon I get the credit.
