Purvis Home Improvement Shawn Purvis roof warantee leaks Scarborough Maine
Purvis Home Improvement was hired by our Condo Association to replace the roofs of 4 buildings. There are 12 skylights included in the scope of work. The contract had a 10 year warranty on materials and workmanship. Since then the roofs have had many leaks especially around the sky lights and offsets. When contacted, Mr. Purvis was dismissive of the leaks stating they were ice dams. After 2 years of leaks and numerous requests to reinspect and fix the areas in question ending with adamant refusal to come back to the property, A roof inspection was performed by an independent contractor. The inspection showed a deficiency of ice and water shield around the skylights in particular. The report was sent to Mr. Purvis with a request to strip and redo the areas found to be deficient. His response was that the only way that he would set foot on the property was if the property manager was on sight with a check in hand to pay him for his time if he found one area that was done correctly. Due to the response from Mr. Purvis and his unwillingness to stand behind his warranty, the Board of Directors opted to hire another roofing company to repair the deficient areas around the skylights. The bill was sent to Mr. Purvis with a request to reimburse the Association and no response was received. The unwillingness to stand behind his warranty is extremely disappointing to say the least!
