It is outrageous that nobody stops these slime balls from exploiting school children for their purposes.

Public schools are not a forum for sales people and it is a shame how they are doing business:

Children are offered rewards for their sales and they don't realize that what they are going to get at the end are just useless penny-articles, not the big stuff which requires a large amount of sales.

School children are used as tools to sell overprized cookies and magazines to people who only buy the stuff because they feel guilty to say "no" to a neighbors kid or to a child which belongs to the family. The fact that the sales are "fundraisers" does not justify the system.

QSP Reader's Digest is not a non-profit organization, it is a business and their goal is to make profits, using school children as an easy to manipulate tool. Their sales professionals are trained to convince teachers of the benefits for the schools. They know how to manipulate decision makers psychologically so that they can use public schools as a forum and playground for their business activities.

I understand your anger, but schools need their support!

I completely understand where your coming from, I have 2 school age children that bring home a new sale tactic from school almost every month. But I only let them sale things I know to be a good product and I certainly don't force them or influence them to sale anything, I do however put my foot down when I can't afford to purchase anything from their sales books, I don't expect nor want my children to beg others for their support when I can not myself.

But there is a problem with your arguement. These companies don't make the profit you think they make. The school is actually the one's getting the goods. These companies may be gimicks or "scams", but look at it this way: If the children don't help make money for the schools, no one else will. Most schools need better text books or supplies for learning and these fundraisers give the schools the financial budget they need to provide these things. The Federal, State and Local governments are the ones you should complain to, if they gave the schools better financial backings, the schools would not be in the possition to have to use these companies sale tactics or better yet use our children to help make money for their own education.

Basically my point is; Nothing is free in life, not now not ever. But our children saling things to provide themselves with a better education really isn't anything to complain about.
