I needed an engine for my Mazda and saw that Quality Used Engines (QUE) had the 5 year 50K mile warranty at a reasonable price. I purchased it and saw that according to them it would arrive 7 to 14 days from when it was ordered well that should have been great but it did not ship until 14 days and all I would get back as a response from QUE was that it was going through quality control (sic).

The engine finally arrives at my dealership and it arrives with a dented intake manifold but otherwise, it looked good.  The engine was installed and ran great but after the dealership test drove it they noticed an oil leak. It turns out that the RTV seal on the oil pan has a leak and Mazda noted that it looks like it was changed one time before.

When I tried to call QUE's customer service and got put on hold and no one ever picked up. I finally decided to call the sales line and was told that the service department was working and I must be mistaken, he put me on hold and never came back!

Finally, I sent them an email where they sent back a response 'Unfortunately our warranty doesn’t cover seal or gasket leaks so we will not be able to start a warranty claim for this issue.' I called the customer service desk again and actually got an answer and was told that in the Warranty info it states that seals need to be replaced when installing the engine. It does not explicitly say that it says, ' 'We do not warranty oil leaks/damage on engines or transmissions due to non replaced seals, gaskets or filters.'

This does not say that all seals and gaskets must be replaced and is buried in the T&C's. Horrible all around and reporting them to the BBB.
