If I could give them minus stars I would. NEVER, NEVER USE QUEST MOVING, LLC. Our furniture was delivered on August 18, 2018, and almost every piece was damaged in one way or another, not to mention the damage to our wood floors and our front steps which now need to be replaced. We tried several times to contact them via email and telephone, left at least three messages with service and were told that a supervisor would get back to us immediately. When they finally did get back to us, we were told to file a claim with movingclaims.net.  We did that two weeks ago and still havent heard anything from them either.

Quest Moving, LLC misrepresented itself as a Mover and not a broker. We specifically asked if they were movers and not brokers and Aaron, the salesman, said absolutely. They were not brokers, but movers. When we hired “Quest Moving, LLC”, we thought we were hiring professional movers and a professional moving company, however, we have since come to find out just how mistaken we were. This is false advertising and misrepresentation of a company.

After not getting our furniture when we were promised, we received it three weeks later and there was significant damage. Our furniture was damaged and soiled. The following are just some of the items damaged: two sofas and two chairs soiled from dragging; marble coffee table that was crushed on the corners and cannot be repaired; several pieces of furniture with chipped/shaved corners from dragging: mirror, buffet, two corners on a brand new dining room table; two pieces of a four piece wall unit; two corners on a brand new coffee table; dressers and broken glass on the grandfather clock . The list is extensive and too much to list but all of the damage was caused from carelessness.

We were told by the movers that our furniture was too heavy to be lifted so our furniture was dragged leaving the edges on my new dining room table and new coffee table chipped off and a huge hole in the edge of one of my sofas from being dragged. I will be taking pictures of all of the damage today and forwarding it with an estimate of what it will cost to repair all of the damage. Some of the furniture was left unwrapped and/or standing on its side. I understand this is a big job, but we paid big money ($8,830.50). Our estimate was $4,690.00, which I understand that was only an estimate, however, the price doubled. We expected our furniture to come in the same condition that it left our home in New York and to have all of the furniture brought into the house and placed in its respective place.

Two armoires were left in our garage because they said they were too tired to move them so we would have to find a way to get them into our house and up the stairs.  They also said that they could not remove all of the debris because it was a rented truck (Penske) so we would have to clean everything up and dispose of the debris ourselves. Once again, we paid a lot of money and do not feel that it was our job to put furniture together, clean up after them and hire more movers to finish their job.

When they finished it was approximately 7-7:30 in the evening on a Saturday, the forman was in our driveway yelling, screaming and cursing at the other movers. Some of our neighbors were out and we were very embarrassed by the display of anger and vulgarity. The forman than came in with the paper work and said we had to sign, to avoid any confrontation we signed to get him out of the house. They are unprofessional and uncaring. Once they got their money, they acted like they were doing us a favor by delivering our furniture.

Actually, They Brokered Your Move Because They Had NO Choice

Quest Moving, LLC misrepresented itself as a Mover and not a broker. We specifically asked if they were movers and not brokers and Aaron, the salesman, said absolutely.  At the time you contacted them, they probably were movers.  However, late this summer, Quest LLC lost their authority to actually perform HHG moves, according to the Department of Transportation.  What they ended up doing is having another company perform the remainder of their move, since they could no longer perform your move.  In a situation like that, they have no choice.

Honestly, you were really lucky.  If you do a search on Quest LLC on this site, you will find person after person hopelessly waiting for their goods to be shipped to them, with no idea where their stuff is because the company lost its ability to perform a move.  Perhaps they may now have their goods by this point.  The fact you have your items...is a step ahead of the other people who used them this summer.

I understand this is a big job, but we paid big money ($8,830.50).  You probably underpaid.  If you had actually contacted a legitimate mover, you probably would have paid more than $12,000 based on the amount of stuff you needed to move.  Moving is not an inexpensive event, and if you thought $8K was expensive, let me assure you, it is not when you move your personal possessions.  Add up the cost of all of the damages, and even if you receive a valuation reimbursement for $0.60 per pound, you will have paid far more than the $12,000 a legit mover would have billed you - without the damages.

Quest LLC is out of business for now, but the owner will likely restart the business under a new name and have no complaints to deal with.  In other words, your complaint will not help the next person.  It certainly didn't help you - all you had to do was a search on the internet for Quest - you would have not used them in the first place had you even done a preliminary search.

The moral of the story is this:  Stay off the internet when contacting a mover.  Contact someone who is local to you at origin, have them come out and see what needs to be moved, and then they can provide a binding, not to exceed estimate.  If the price is more than you can afford, then do the move yourself.  If you can't, then only use a legit mover and work with them to get a lower price.  Otherwise, you perpetuate the problems for others that you just went through.
