I tried bidding on a Kindle on several occassions trying to figure out how to successfully win one of these devices.  I had to prepay for the bids at 60 cents a pop and got serious about winning an auction so I had l LOT Of bids to back up my efforts.  3 times the auction abuptly ended when there was still time left to bid, robbing me of all those bids placed.  Yes, they offer you the chance to "buy it now" minus the cost of the bids, but I thought I'd try again as I felt I must have done something incorrectly.  I feel like the lamest looser on the planet for going forward with the 3rd try, but they are very convincing in making it seem so legitimate.  I watched a few of these for several days, and one sold for around $8 and they retail for $260.  It's like watching your money ripped right out of your hands to see that SOLD flash up on the screen and it's not to you.  These people "may" be trying to run a legitimate business, but their system is horribly flawed by ending an auction when there are still people bidding.  Perhaps their mainframe looses contact with the net for a couple of seconds, but that is all it takes.  And this is only AT BEST.  AT WORST, this is a horrible scheme to make easy money and scam the people coming to their web site looking for a deal.  If I had read the review on this site before, I never would have attempted to deal with this web site.  AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS - THEY"LL JUST TAKE YOUR MONEY!!

I have received an offer from Quibids to make good on the bids that I lost on the device.  Hopefully they will follow through and allow me to purchase the item at Buy It Now.  I would still caution anyone using the site to place bids at 5 seconds left instead of waiting due to problems that can occur with internet service lagging.  Otherwise, have plenty of bids ready and enough time that you don't have to leave your computer for anything.  Happy Bidding!

QuiBids Model and Features

I'm sorry you had a negative experience.  We pride ourselves on our moral and ethical business tactics and want to give our customers the best deals possible while providing a fun and exciting, fast-paced auction. As anyone should do, please read up on our company, the business model and how we work before participating in any auction.  It would have been beneficial for you to start in a beginner's auction in this instance - start out small and go from there.  We also have a QuiBids101 section that offers information, tips & suggestions for participating in our auctions.  We advise everyone to look through it and to exercise the Buy it Now so you don't have to go away empty-handed.  You mentioned you knew about this feature - in this instance, it should've been taken advantage of.

Time: It runs out when no one bids.  We add time to the clock when each bid is placed for a few reasons.  First, without a timer reset, we would never collect enough bids back to cover our costs and therefore wouldn't be able to provide great deals to our users like we are currently able to.  In addition, we want to give each user enough time to make a decision to bid instead of it being an impulse decision where there isn't enough time to think through their decision.  This is explained in our Help section on the site.  If there ever seems to be a problem with an auction or the time, feel free to contact us at support@quibids.com.  Thank you for your time.

Jill
