Steam Punked.

One of my firm’s vehicles needed a roadside repair. This was located in the Mojave Desert which is in a remote area of California. I called, “Quick Fix Truck & Trailer Repair.” They arrived rather quickly considering the break down location. The repair was for an air leak as a result of tank damage. That is, someone hit one of our parked vehicles. I consulted with our Fleet mechanic who advised Quick Fix to bring a replacement tank with them.

They replied that their mechanics would be able to repair the leak on site, with their existing tools. I took them at their word however, after trying several different repair methods including welding, and several hours later, they produced no results. They did however, produce an impressive piece of “Steam Punk” art. That’s the best way I can describe their last repair. This last repair being the use of self-tapping sheet metal screws. Still haven’t figured out how they belied this would hold better than their ineffective welding. And, I’m not going to ask.

The mental damage would be more than I can bear. The vehicle had to stay overnight, broke down at the roadside. We ended up sending one of our company mechanics on a five-hour drive to fix it right. So, to summarize Quick Fix, lousy service, but pretty good art. Maybe I can auction their work to any interested collector.
