I had a Russian roomate and when he was going to move out, I called Qwest to see how to block international calls for the last month he was there so I wouldn't get stuck with a bill after he was gone.

They said they could take care of it and told me they had put a block on. It even shows up on my bill every month as a no charge item. Well I got the bill and there was $170 in calls to Russia.

I called them and after much time, they agreed that it was their fault and then I never heard about it for 4 years.

Now they have started billing me for it again and are adding $5 per month late fee and reporting me to the credit bureau and they now claim that there is no record of me requesting the international block and I must pay it.

Qwest is impossible to deal with. I keep getting switched to another department when I call and am on hold forever and then get cut off. I am very frustrated with this company but have no choice but to use them if I want dsl.

Curt, give a call back to Qwest and request that they either put you in contact with, or that they have someone call you back from, their Support Team or Group. This is a group of individuals that handle your type of problem. They are able to access accounts back as far as several years and should be able to locate any notations on the account as well. Each time you make a call into Qwest, the representative should (is required to) access your account. Once into the account the computer system makes it impossible to leave the account unless some type of notation is left on the account. If you have reached a reputable representative (they aren't ALL reputable) they should note what was discussed on the phone call, what they were going to do about the problem, the date of the call....etc. If these old calls were tied in with another telephone number, make sure you have that available. The Support Team members have some managerial capabilities and should be able to take care of this problem for you. Be persistent, be patient....and good luck
