The number of problems I have had with Qwest over the years is nearly infinite, but since they have a near monopoly over land phone service you have to live with it. My lastest brush with Qwest incompetence, however, has finally pushed me over the edge.

I moved and had phone service disconnected on the 15th of the month. On my final bill, I was charged for a full month's service. I called Qwest and was told the error was corrected. I then received an updated bill which showed my disconnection date as the 31st of the month. Yes, rather than change their admitted error, they simply lied about the disconnection date. What could I do about it? I don't have a recorded conversation to prove the real date of disconnection.

So I refused to pay the difference. Within a month, the fraudulent $30 bill had been turned over to collection agency. In less than another month, the fraudulent collection account was appearing on my credit report.
My recommendation-- there a number of other options out there-- digital phone, cable, wireless. DO NOT do business with Qwest!! You may find their general incompetence tolerable, but NO ONE should ever accept their blatent dishonesty.
