I left Qwest when I moved to a new home, as I saw no point in paying a $35 activation fee for my new home when I could get a cell phone for the same price, and cheaper monthly service. A couple weeks later, I received an advertisement for free activation for "coming back to Qwest". When I called on this offer, I got the run-around over & over & over again.

First, I called the phone number given on the advertisment: 1-800-242-5035. The people at this end told me they had to transfer me to another area to get the service set up. Ok, this much is ok.

Then, at this new line, they told me that this advertisement is part of a "win back" promotion, and the only way I can get this is if I already have some sort of residential service.

Before calling Qwest, I had read all of the fine print, and I saw NOTHING saying that you must have residential service in order to receive this promotion.

After getting the runaround, I called the first number back again. I actually managed to get the same person that had transfered me to the other area. She said that she had spoken with her supervisor before transferring me, and that I had received this advertisement in error. I told her that I did not care, I had received it, and I wanted the deal as advertised. She said there was nothing she could do, but I could speak to her supervisor.

pAFter approximately FIVE minutes of waiting, her supervisor finally came on the line. I repeated everything to her, and she said that even if she entered my order into the computer, it would be rejected because I do not qualify for this promotion. Finally, completely fed-up, I asked for Qwest's number, since these idiots were just the agency who puts in the requests for service.

I next called Qwest. Their explanation was that their statement "coming back" meant coming back to Qwest from another company. No matter what I said, they kept saying the exact same thing. I have heard many complaints about Qwest, and they have irritated me in the past, but this is the first evidence I have of their fraudulent practices.

You have a choice now, and don't choose Qwest!
