R.W. Hertel dba Private Island Homes, specifically at their development, The Reserve at Diablo Grande in Patterson, Ca is a total ripoff. We submitted a punchlist of items to be fixed in our 60 day report back in September and the items are still not fixed.

Ron, the new Superintendent since R.W. Hertel bought out Private Island Homes is horrible. Since he came on board, he's been "too busy" to get around to fixing our problems.

We have a leaking shower in the master bedroom that is either the shower enclosure or the granite which has made the floor peel up outside of the enclosure. We have been asking repeatedly to have it repaired. My husband has taken the day off work 3 times now and either no one shows up or only the granite guy shows up and can't do anything because the shower enclosure guy never took it out.

Ron has told he that he will be giving us a check for some drainage we had to put in our front yard because of flooding. he is also supposed to be reimbursing us for some tile on our kitchen island that we had to remove outselves.

We have tried to talk to the corporate office of Hertel in Ventura and they only tell us how busy Ron is. There are only 52 homrs in our development and they are almost all complete. We get the feeling that he is dragging his feet on this so that we will either just go away or pay to have someone do it.

We are disgusted with the lack of customer service and that the superintendent is not doing his job. He is rude and makes us feel like we are being petty in our complaints. He disregards us and our concerns. He doesn't show up when he says he will nor does he coordinate jobs so that they can get done.

I would never, ever purchase a home from this company and will discourage anyone thinking about it to think twice. They do not stand behind their homes.

I'm pleased to report that Private Island Homes is back on track to making repairs of our home. They are now coordinating subcontractors to show up in the necessary order. We are due to have the granite put back in the bathroom this Wednesday and the shower enclosure re-installed. We are going to get the replacement door for our warped slider. We are scheduled to receive the reimbursement for the tile and drainage. We are getting much better customer service with calls now being returned to us and making sure that there is follow through on committments made. I was very angry and frustrated when I posted this but since then, things have turned around. We are very satisfied with the progress being made.
