I paid a deposit of $150 for a photoshoot with Rachel Stephens, I was told that I had to have my makeup done by there make up artist they use for $50-$100, I could not use my own make up artist. I arrived at the location of the shoot on time. The shoot was at a boutique hotel, I had to wait 15minutes for the hotel check in to give me access to get to the room, none of Rachel Stephens staff was available to bring a key for me to get upstairs, which caused me to be late. The makeup artist was very nice, but did a horrible job with my make up. I graciously paid for her services, but had to redo my entire make up, which I did in under 15min, it took the makeup artist 45min to do my make up. I had 18minutes to change into 3 looks, poses, change it wardrobe, stockings heels, etc. After the pictures were taken, I never got to see my images. It was a very disappointing event, Rachel was not very nice, and very rude. However at the end of the shoot, I was shown books that I could purchase my images in the amount $2400, however you had to commit to spend a minimal of $250. When I got the images 30days later, I was told my proofs would be ready in 2 weeks, I never received anything. When I got my proofs, I asked if I could pay for the images that I wanted, I was told by the manager Sean, he would call me, I did not get a call back until 2 weeks later, he was busy with other things (very unprofessional, and rude) Finally, I got a link to pay for the images via paypal.  Before paying for my images, I asked for my original size images, I was told Rachel does not give the customer there original size images. A day goes by, I do not hear anything, nor did I receive my images. When I called as to when to expect my images, I was told by Sean O'Riordan they were not McDonalds, I stated ok, he seemed to be annoyed, that I was asking for my images after paying for them. Sean then went on to state that, he was not giving me my images at this point.
To date, I have not received anything! This photographer, takes nice photos which you may eventually see. Rachel Stephens Photography travels between Boston, NY, Chicago, DC, Las Vegas, and other cities.
Im sure if this experience happened to me, there are others that have had this happen. I hope this saves individuals, time, money, and frustration with dealing with this photographer.

Everyone has the right to complain and everyone has an off day.  Perhaps this was Rachel's bad day.  In any event, Psychics have a lot of supporters, doesn't make them saints.

Oh and I would not blow my own horn too much about all the good I do, it's the quiet ones that earn respect.

I am a client.  Who got her pictures taken on August 13, in a suite at a nice hotel that I happen to have a personal connection to.  I received my teaser photo (basically, a photo that Rachel chooses because she likes it a lot, and does the entire editing process on, so that you get an idea of what your photos will look like.  She sends this along with the link to your gallery that you can go look at and choose the shots that you would like to order, and have the same amazing work done to them--as she cannot do all that work to every single picture she takes of you... I believe we looked at the camera after the photo session and she had taken over 250 pictures of me in the time we had)... and I am going to post it here, as an update to my earlier post... before I got anything back from Rachel.

You can feel free to friend me on facebook.... (((ROR redacted)))
And you can see that I am a real person.  And I was a client of Rachel's (in fact, I brought a friend with me, and I think my friend's pics came out even better than mine).  My fiance, who at first wanted to see the teaser before Rachel used it on her site, but I forgot to tell Rachel, didn't care when I showed him it was already on her Facebook page.  In fact, he ran around showing it to everybody.  And next year, or the year after, depending on when we can afford it (as we just bought a house and moved in over this past weekend and we are getting married in October, so we have many other things to spend money on at this point) we are going to have a couples session with Rachel, as she does AMAZING work, and since my fiance was in the Navy, I wanted to have some cute vintage-style pictures taken in that old-style "V-J Day [New York, 1945]" and I know she can do it...

But feel free.  I am sure that anybody who writes a comment here, or on her FB page, will gladly introduce themselves to you over the net, and prove that they are a genuine customer.

It's quite funny that you think that because we are all coming to Rachel's aid in this instance, that we are full of it.  It would more serve to prove that we hold her in such high regard that we want to show people that the original person who commented was absolutely LYING.  Rachel really does create a sisterhood.  In fact, after my picture was posted on her Facebook, I saw another picture of a woman named Angel Rose who lives where I live, also, and she is wearing her boyfriend's Air Force jacket in the picture, which I jokingly stated that she had stolen my idea in the comments on the picture (my fiance was only able to find his camouflage poncho... which is totally not as sexy as a jacket with cleavage lol), and she ended up messaging me on Facebook, also... and we are getting together for a d**n BBQ on Sunday!  NOT ONLY do you feel a strong sisterhood with Rachel, as when you meet her you feel like you have always known her (which is why we stick up for her, because we all know how great she is), BUT ALSO we find NEW friends within the sisterhood.  It's a truly life-changing experience.  You may see my previous comment above for a picture of me (I am the one in the white sundress wearing a veil, as that was a picture I took two months ago at the apartment complex I lived in on the day I had my hair practiced on for my wedding).... and then compare it to the one Rachel took.

Then tell me we are all full of it.

If you read her Facebook fanpage, or her website, you will see there is no shilling going on! I must admit, many companies would probably be very jealous to have so many positive comments about their work, integrity, etc. But, alas, it is all true. I am going to re-frame your comment " how 'far-off' from a ripoff they are" as a positive thing!!! I am going to take it that you meant that these vows of excellence by satisfied clients are NOT, in fact, shills....but a demonstration that Rachel Stephens Photography for Women is at the opposite end of the continuum from a rip off. And to that I salute you for being so astute!!! (and if there is even a modicum of doubt in your mind-READ HER FACEBOOK PAGE!) If thousands of women were getting ripped off, why do their clients not only seek her out again and again, but bring their friends along each time!) Sirenhood....the best sorority out there!

Not shills just happy clients, they do exist. Thousands of them.  I don't have the time or the want to write as many great things about our business as the women who have come to our defense.  We are a small husband and wife business who had the unfortunate luck of working with the complainant.

Rachel Stevens Photography is Far From a Rip-Off

#23Consumer Comment

Sun, August 14, 2011

I have been waiting for Rachel to come to Las Vegas for over a year, as I found her last year online.  I cannot begin to tell you how elated I was to be able to book a session with her.  I had it yesterday.

But let's just back up a little bit and speak about the rest of her team for a minute or two.  Sean, her manager and loving and supportive husband, is one of the nicest guys I have met.  He is caring, patient, and helpful.  He wants you to be able to have the best experience possible, as Rachel's photography business is what fuels their beautiful family.  The first time I e-mailed Sean regarding the whole experience was over a year ago.  It just so happened that the family was on vacation.  I received an e-mail the day they got home, with an apology about it not being sent sooner.  There was no need to apologize.  Sean, Rachel, and the kids have every right to enjoy their vacation and not be bothered by work, just as the rest of the world gets their vacation.  Every e-mail after that, and every call was answered immediately or within 24 hours.  I cannot ask for a better turnaround for a business who handles so many clients all over the nation, and I have not even become a client yet.

Sean was helpful by answering any question I had, and sending so many helpful ideas through e-mail (whether it be where to get cute outfits, the entire pricing structure, available looks for the makeup artist, and complete and detailed run-downs of how shoots work).  He even helped me financially afford the shoot and my photo order, as I recently lost my job and am in a city where unemployment is rampant, because I am going to be married in October, and wanted to do this as a gift for my to-be husband.

The week before the shoot, Rachel and Sean send e-mails with all you need to know for the shoot.  All parts of the contract are clearly explained, and nothing is left to your imagination.  You have detailed instructions for getting to the room you are to meet at (as Rachel and Lindsay are unable to leave the room, due to the fact that they are both working on the shoots for other Sirens before you, and cannot meet you outside of the room... for both the privacy and comfort of the women doing their shoot).  You are told to make it early so that you run into no problems.  For me, I knew the hotel very well, as I used to work as a security officer at it.  I know how tight they run their ship, and the fact that each guest MUST show a key before they are allowed to enter the elevators.  Rachel went out of her way days in advance to make sure that even though she could not get keys for each lady, security was aware that the ladies who were coming to see her were allowed up.  However, I knew that since the shoot was IMPORTANT TO ME, I would be there early anyway.  I knew that if I was late, it would only be MY FAULT for not getting there early enough to deal with whatever may happen, as Rachel does explain to everybody that they may want to be there early to make sure everything run smoothly.

I took a friend with me, as we were getting our shoots done together.  We visited the bar beforehand, and I brought my drink and bags up to the room.  Lindsay greeted us at the door with a smile, and showed us where we can put our things and dress when it was time.  Rachel came out to greet us as the lady she was shooting was changing into another outfit.

Rachel is nothing other than genius.  Not only does she pump out the most beautiful renditions of all her clients, but when you meet her, you realize she is a regular woman like all the rest of us.  She is so personable and likable, than you feel like you're best friends the second you walk through the door.  You can make terrible jokes together, talk about things that you would normally only talk about with your best girlfriend or significant other, and you don't even realize that you may just be naked while doing it... and then before you know it, your time is up, and you only want to do it again.  You leave with your confidence high, feeling amazing.  I could have had my photo taken by a couple other boudoir photographers in my area... but not only did their portfolio completely pale in comparison, they were terrible about e-mailing or calling me back at all with any sort of detail about their work.  And it also seemed like their photos were only of the perfect model-like women anyway... and they looked like they should be in Hustler magazine--not classy and beautiful like Rachel's work always has been... not the right look for hanging on my wall in my home.

Lindsay, the makeup artist, is just as professional.  She does your makeup in fifteen minutes, so as not to waste time.  Having been a makeup artist for theater myself, and having experience in both airbrush and conventional makeup, I can tell you--she does an amazing job.  She also knows intricacies of makeup that the average consumer (the one complaining) would not know.  When Rachel polishes up the pictures in her studio, she makes sure to smooth over any blemishes, unevenness of color, and the like.  Putting makeup on come of those things can actually hinder Rachel from making the picture look smooth.  However, in fifteen minutes of makeup, and ten minutes of hair, I looked like the perfect retro pin-up.

I have wanted to have my picture taken by Rachel for over a year, since I found her online... and I can honestly say it was worth every moment of the wait, and I cannot wait to do it again next year.  The experience alone is something nobody else can help you achieve.  EVERY WOMAN, regardless of age, shape, color should do this--and do it for themselves, not anybody else.  It is such an empowering experience that one can never forget.

I cannot wait to see what I look like in the pictures, as I took them yesterday... but, I am more than confident--I am absolutely sure that they will be nothing other than remarkable.  Rachel is amazing at bringing out the beauty in every single woman.  Her time and effort is worth every single penny, and more.  I do not think she gets paid ENOUGH for how much she affects the lives of all of us sister Sirens all over the world--if you are open to it, the experience can change the way you feel about
yourself for the better.  And I, for one, will never look back.

I do not expect my pictures sent tomorrow.  Or the next day.  Or the day after.  I happen to know that she is for the most part, a one-woman show--not only because she is the brains and talent behind the photos, but also to preserve the privacy of her clients.  I have read the contract I signed, and I know EXACTLY how long it will take to receive the link to my gallery, how long I have to get back to her with my order, and how long it will take from then to receive my product.  I do not expect it to be quicker, as I know that she not only still goes out of town taking pictures for more lucky women; but also that she works on the pictures for every woman she has taken pictures of during her recent events... not just me.  I waited a year to see her.  If I had to wait a year for my photos, I wouldn't even mind.  That would never happen--but I am content to build up the excitement to see my proofs.

She does offer a service for immediate work on a gallery, to be sent the following day (if she is not on a shoot, and then it would be delivered that Monday) but I can not only be patient, but I would rather give her ample time to work her magic and not rush her.  I know whatever she sends will be perfect.  How can I say that so assured?  I have seen literally hundreds of pictures of many other women of every walk of life.  And they are all gorgeous, amazing pieces of art.  Every single woman (and there are just about seven thousand who are fans of her Facebook page) who has been able to experience Rachel's shoot (besides the woman who filed this completely false complaint) has nothing but raving reviews about Rachel... they are so thankful for the amazing artwork of themselves not only because they look amazing, but also because they feel like an entirely new person with more confidence.  It is impossible to walk out of a session with Rachel NOT feeling like the best you that you have ever been.  And this is coming from a formerly completely self-conscious, self-deprecating "fat" woman.  Screw that.  I'm curvy and delicious.  Rachel made me see that.

I personally take offense to this absolute false report about Rachel, as I can honestly say I feel that she is a sister to me.  Someone I can look up to without her having to be older than me or some famous movie star.  She is a REAL woman who loves to make other REAL women feel like Sirens.

Thank you, Mama Siren.  I cannot thank you enough.

The most ridiculous claim/complaint I've ever heard...

#23Consumer Comment

Fri, August 05, 2011

I am going to start by saying that there are people, very UNPLEASANT people, all over this planet that simply search for reasons to complain. There are those that will go OUT OF THEIR WAY to experience something (even if the experience is THE most wonderful, life changing and uplifting thing), simply to work solely to find something, ANYTHING wrong with it--and then overdramatize it, and try to gain pity from the world for their so-called mistreatment by broadcasting it any way they can.

You, my slimy little online complainer, are one of those people. And I am going to let EVERYONE know the REAL experience you get when signing up for a photoshoot with the unbelievably artistic GENIUS that is Rachel Stephens Photography...

I was introduced to Rachel Stephens in 2009, when I wished to do a boudoir shoot as a gift for my first year anniversary with my husband. I. WAS. NERVOUS. Not many people are privy to the anxiety that pairs with peeling off all your clothes in front of a stranger and letting them snap pictures of you. But I was willing, because I knew it would be a special gift. I got in touch with the company, both Sean and Rachel sent me emails and explained the contract with patience and professionalism. The initial event that I'd booked ended up being cancelledhowever, due to lack of clientele for the location. So Rachel PERSONALLY messaged me, apologizing for the inconvenience, and offered for me to go to the next closest location, which happened to be 300+ miles away from where I lived. I was hesitant, but she promised to make it worth my while, and after a little rearranging of my schedule, I decided to take her advice. She was more than grateful, and told me so. I appreciated her enthusiasm. It was nice to know that my efforts to see her despite the event cancellation were not going unnoticed. True professionalism. I admired her immediately, not only for her work, but because of her continued efforts to keep me satisfied as a client that hadn't even met her yet.

So a gal pal (recruited for moral support) and I trekked to the new location, and I was Rachel's first client for that morning's shoot. I was shivering in my chair as my makeup was applied, but listening to the banter between Rachel and her makeup artist calmed me. They laughed, they joked, and they pulled me into the conversation as well. Before I knew it, I was adding my own bits of conversation, and laughing along with them. I didn't look into the mirror very much until my hair and makeup was done, but when it was, my jaw dropped. I LOOKED AMAZING!!

Those ladies gave me such confidence before I even stepped into my shoot with Rachel. As they primped and primed me on the outside, they were very stealthily doing the same to me on the inside. When Rachel calls herself "The Naked Lady Whisperer," SHE AIN'T LYIN' FOLKS!! I had so much confidence when she started snapping pics, and the rest is history. That day I was a goddess, no, A SIREN!

Rachel is also very understanding, especially with this economy. I did a payment plan for my photos, as I didn't have the contracted amount of funds for a minimum purchase up front. I set up a payment plan, ordered my photos, and shortly after the last payment was received, the fruits of Rachel's labor (and my own personal hotness that day) were delivered!! I was amazed and thrilled and crying and oh my gosh it was just wonderful!!

So to go from that experience to reading this ill-reported, slanderous, tabloid-trash report from one person that is bawling like the COWS on my pastures at home, almost makes my ears and eyes bleed.

You entered into a CONTRACT that you SIGNED, and AGREED to by doing so. There are no exceptions. There are no loopholes. This is the service you get, and this is what you pay. If you had such a problem with the minimum purchase requirement for you session then it's simple--don't book! If you can't handle a payment plan with NO interest, then it's simple--don't book! These are things that you should have clarified with YOURSELF before agreeing to this contract, which is yet ANOTHER SIGN that you are "that type" of human that just CAN'T EVER BE PLEASED. I bet you wear black, because it matches the color of your soul, right?

And furthermore, if you had a problem with your makeup, well, I believe you have a pair of jaws that flap quite easily, as they seem to be doing on this website. OPEN YOUR TRAP AND SAY SOMETHING. I'm not the type to let someone do my makeup in a way I don't find appealing. I have a hard time even believing that this was the case in this particular scenario, but you had every ability to stop the process and make your wishes clear BEFORE the artist was done. They don't just butcher you on purpose. Be specific. Bring photos. Bring examples. I did, and hey, whaddya' know? My makeup came out just way I asked!!

You had the ability to make the experience pleasant, and fun, and uplifting, and EMPOWERING. You went in there simply looking for any and every way that this could go wrong, and therefore MADE it that way. This is not the fault of the makeup artist. This is not the fault of the phtographer. This is not the fault of the business owner(s). THIS. IS. YOUR. FAULT. PERIOD!!!!

I have already booked my second session with Rachel in Chicago for this year. I'm bringing 2 of my closest friends for shoots too, one of them being my moral support gal pal from the previous session. She was so amazed just by my makeup upon my return to the hotel room that day, that she was ready to book a session right then and there! I HIGHLY encourage EVERY woman to look into this AMAZING service that Rachel offers. Payment plans, fantastic makeup, gorgeous hotel/rental settings, and in the end, a photo and experience that you'll cherish for the rest of your life!!!!!

Rachel is a hard working, beautiful, business savvy and professional WOMAN, in every essence of the word. She makes me proud to be a client, because this is the kind of SIREN I want to stand in the ranks with.

You go on, witcha' bad self, Rach. This lady clearly needs to be institutionalized.

Rachel Stephens Photography is the epitome of a business model as far as customer service, dedication and commitment to their customers.

#23Consumer Comment

Fri, August 05, 2011

Rachel Stephens Photography is the epitome of a business model as far as customer service, dedication and commitment to their customers. Understand when I say epitome: non-paralleled, exceeds in performance and expectations, above all others.

I have given serious consideration to how and why I wanted to respond to the charges of the complainant. I have no connection to Rachel Stephens Photography other than my personal experience of a session, but feel compelled to rebuff the alleged complaints. I am having a very difficult time reconciling the details of the story to the documented timeline.

I teach business for a living! When I discuss developing a business model for a service or product with my students I use Rachel Stephens Photography as the quintessential business model. I stress how one must clearly define who/what they are and the key point in differentiation is customer
service. If you excel at this, you will nail it every time! RSP has such an incredibly fine tuned mission and vision. As a company they know exactly who they are. They are also acutely aware that their product is only in part, a tangible photograph or book, or canvas. The larger distribution of their
business is on the service side, highly intangible, but bears more weight in the eyes of a customer than even the product. Talk about a competitive advantage. I will recount-from a business, not personal perspective- the employees, the process, policies and procedures, the product(s) and the social responsibility of Rachel Stephens Photography and you can be the judge on the extraordinary
quality of this company. This company/they are in NO WAY, SHAPE or FORM scam artists of ANY KIND!

Employees:

Rachel- gifted, perceptive, intelligent, talented, hysterical, fiery, exacting, warm, brilliant, intuitive, kind, loving, encouraging, open, honest, vulnerable, flexible and masterful. She is part photographer, part entertainer, part psychiatrist, part artist, part mystic, part sister and part
best friend. Please show me an owner of a business or company, that would open up and expose themselves and their family on Facebook, if there was something to hide or she was a scam artist. Again, this is so rare; you will have to search a while and still may come up empty.

Sean-dedicated, encouraging, so considerate, patient, kind, willing to answer question after question, email after email, this is a very involved business. You dont just run to the store, he rings you up and your goneno he gives pre-session, and post-session service and pulls everything together on the business side. They are a team, they are integrated and it shows!

Lindsey-the make-up artist that was at my session. Pre-session counsel. Professional and skilled make-up artist. Instant ease in her chair. The look already discussed, she is quick, personable, kind and then poof you are fabulous. And ready to make some magic.

Policies, Procedures and Process:

I certainly will not address each point of the complaint, as previous posters have eloquently reviewed that there should be no grey areas as far as expectations are concerned by anyone going into an RSP shoot. If expectations were not met, the fault would lie on the individual signing the
contract and consent forms, not RSP, as their documents are extremely thorough with not only instructions, suggestions, policies and procedures but rationale for all of the above. I beg anyone find another company that also offers rationale for their policies and procedures.

From the initial email, through pre-session phone conversations with Sean and Lindsey, RSP begins to set the bar high for clients expectations. Their professionalism is beyond reproach. The shoot itself is an efficient operation, many sirens to turn around in a limited time, but this is all clearly detailed in the pre-work. A company and process this efficient usually loses something in the delivery of service. This is where Rachel Stephens has a gift unlike any I have ever seen. Think about this, so efficient they can turn 18 siren/siren sessions in a day, yet, read the above, and the other sources posted here, not only is there NO LACK OR DROP OF SERVICE.SIRENS CANT EVEN
EXPRESS JUST HOW INCREDIBLE THE EXPERIENCE IS!!!!  Efficiency does not mean losing the
relationship aspect of business. And Rachel Stephens gives her undivided attention to each of these ladies when they are in front of her cameraall the while she is relaxing a stranger in her birthday suit to expose the beauty within! I challenge anyone to find a company that more thoroughly demonstrates the concept of being present for their clients.

Post session the delivery of the gallery is timely. I find it incomprehensible to ask a photographer for copies of all of the photographs taken during a session. They are the professional and I trust them to select the pictures from which to choose. Moreover, I cannot imagine suggesting taking ones photographsan ARTISTS photographs and giving it to someone else and  saying that you would give them credit. It goes beyond art.if you were the accountant of a firm, would you hand over all the books to someone else and let them sign your name to them? Imagine what could happen

Social Responsibility:

This may be the business buzz word of the moment, but this is a way of life for the Stephens ORiordan household. They give back to their community; they are a PART of their community, they share tools to help others lead better and more fulfilling lives. And they are passing this genius and this love and this business/life model on to their children. Rachel Stephens Photography has
a Sirens for Survivors and a Sirens for the Service Program. The former scholarships and offers survivors of breast cancer a complimentary 90 minute session, the chance to reclaim and celebrate themselves as women and a credit toward their purchase.  The latter offers discounts for all military families to honor the service and sacrifices they make for our country. Again, I challenge you to find another company of this size that gives back at such a high level.

Quality of Product:

Have you seen the photographs? Search the internet for boudoir photography. The level of attention from the posing to retouching is incredible. Her work is truly one of kind. The level of class and sophistication, coupled with her skill and variety of formats of products are unrivaled. And the delivery of the final result, tissue, bowsvalue well above the expense. There is saying about expectations that if you expect a lot you will be disappointed, but if you set expectations low then you will always be pleased. RSP sets the expectation bar very high for their clients and they
still EXCEED it, quite the opposite of the quote. Again, look at the body of work on her website or Facebook page, the value/cost differential is definitely in the clients favor!

On every single count Rachel Stephens Photography is in fact a sublime business model, that in and of itself is remarkable. It is truly in their execution of this model that it surpasses explanation, exceeds expectations and begs for replication. If there were more businesses that cared
as much as RSP, this complainant would have nothing to sayI believe that because they do care so much, and they do go above and beyond and out of their way to satisfy clients, she feels as if she has all the power. The sad thing is, this should be a non-issue.everything has been refundedtransaction over. If you return a shirt to the store you dont get your money back and get
to keep the shirt. Simple business.

If you are thinking about a shoot with Rachel, note, this is one negative amongst the positive. There are multiple posts which include the link to Rachel Stephens Photography for Women website for you to read comments and see testimonials. By all means DO THIS, and look at the pictures while you are there, they are phenomenal. But I urge you to read the UNSOLICITED posts on the Facebook page. These are not selected and posted by the company; these are posts from women that have had a life changing experiences due to this company and Rachel Stephens.

Rule of 10 and then I will close. If someone has a good experience they will tell 3 people. If someone has a bad experience they will tell 10. The complainant obviously thought taking her singular gripe to the internet would garner the reaction she was after. Clearly by reading these
posts, this is one time the reverse of the rule came truewhich only exemplifies my point of how utterly extraordinary Rachel Stephens Photography for Woman and all those involved really are!

Very Very Happy with Rachel Stephens Photography

#23Consumer Comment

Fri, August 05, 2011

I can not imagine that there is any truth to this complaint against Rachel Stephens Photography, Rachel herself, or Sean.  But please allow me to share my story......

For many years, I was overweight and hid from family and friends.  I did not want anyone to see me.  At one point, I weighed 273 pounds.  People would walk right by me as though I didnt exist simply because of my weight.  I felt insignificant.  In 2007, I got tired of life passing me by and

opted to have Lap Band surgery.  It took me more than two years, but I lost over 100 pounds.

In 2010, being recently divorced and turning 40, I decided to give myself the gift of Rachel Stephens Photography.  This is something I had always wanted to do.  After viewing the website and seeing all of the beautiful women, I knew this was for me.  From the minute I arrived, I felt so relaxed and comfortable.  My body is far from perfect due to surgeries and weight loss, but Im a proud size 12.  I was posed and photographed as to show off my best features.  By the end of my 3 hour session, I felt something I hadnt felt in a very long time, confident and beautiful.  Rachel gave me a very special and priceless gift.  From that day on, my life changed.  It was such a powerful experience and I was ready to take on the world!

That experience has carried over into every aspect of my life.  But it didnt hit me until I saw my pictures.  I was speechless. They were amazing.  My boyfriend looked at me and saidThats

you. This is what I see when I look at you!  You can not put a price tag on that!!!!!! Thank you Rachel!

Rachel Stephens Photography Is Incredibly Professional, Talented and Inspiring: You Wont Find One Better

#23Consumer Comment

Thu, August 04, 2011

Its an unfortunate situation when a single disgruntled
consumer takes to the internet to bully a business. For those of you who ended
up on this site while researching potential photographers, youll notice that
any slander made against Rachel Stephens Photography found around the web comes
from the same person: same story, same complaints. A business cannot be defined
by one persons interpretation of his or her experience. This person had
unacceptable behavior, breached a signed contract and yet was given much more
leeway than most businesses would allow, including a full refund.

Im writing to give my own wonderful experience working with
Rachel Stephens ORiordan and her husband/business partner Sean in a
professional setting, as well as a personal endorsement of their characters.

I shot a half-session with Rachel early this year in Los Angeles. She and Sean
sent me all necessary paperwork, guidelines, suggestions and so forth
beforehand to ensure a smooth arrival and shoot. All details and contact
information was at my disposal, so I knew exactly what to do and what to
expect, including checking into the hotel. I myself had to wait a bit for concierge
to check me in, which is in no way RSPs faultRachel does not own the hotel.
When I arrived on the floor, I was welcomed with open arms, a casual, relaxed
environment and in no way did I feel rushed or intimidated. Lindsey the makeup
artist was a wiz and did incredible work in a short amount of time.

What makes Rachel unique as a photographer is her incredible
ability to put a person at ease. While she has an exceptionally talented eye
for shooting and editing, she also brings out of everyone their most beautiful
poses, expressions and confidence that just cant be created with lighting,
camera angles or Photoshop. Shes warm, outgoing, HILARIOUS, but honest--she
wont lie to you, because she doesnt have to. Rachel works very efficiently to
get the best out of each subject, so although she can be direct sometimes, you
know its in your best interest. Would you rather have a plastic surgeon that
coddles you and gives you square breasts or a surgeon who is direct and gives
you a chest like heavens clouds?

I myself am not confident with my body, seeing these sultry,
sexy women looking perfect nude or in lingerie in her portfolio. But after my
shoot with her I realized that most of these women felt the way I did. When I
received my digital proofs I couldnt believe that she did preliminary touchups
to what seemed like a thousand photos of me! And thats even before I paid
anything for the photos! I was almost startled by the way I look in the photos;
I didnt know I had it in me. I would usually never say this about myself, but
I looked gorgeous. I credit it all to Rachel and her amazing team. Now Im one
of those stunning Sirens because Rachel brought out the inner vixen I never
knew I had. I wouldnt trust this kind of shoot to anyone else.

One key element to this whole Rip-Off Report situation is
this: Rachel and Sean have been through hell and back. And yet they are some of
the most fun, genuine and exceedingly tolerant individuals Ive ever met. They
go above and beyond to love and accommodate their family, their friends and of
course, their clients. It takes an extraordinarily aggressive person to get a
reaction out of them, and the mere fact that they have had to turn to a highly
reputable lawyer to respond to the complainant demonstrates just how bullied
they have been by this person. They are a family business with three children,
so I would never dream of expecting, let alone being upset by, Rachel and Sean
putting their family before their work. I would gladly wait extra time so their
son and two very young daughters can have their wonderful parents by their
side.

If these endorsements from happy clients are not enough to
ward off the mistaken words of the complainant, I encourage you to visit RSPs
Facebook page and Rachels personal pages:

https://www.facebook.com/rachelstephensphotography

https://www.facebook.com/rachelstephensphotographyforwomen

All the information and testimonials you will ever need are
there. Rachel has an entire community of very happy clients, supporters and
well-wishers. Rachel isnt a faceless businesswoman out to make as much money
she can. She and her fans and clients have a sisterhood that goes beyond her
photography work. We all chat and joke about family, love, parenthood, heath
and fitness and the everyday struggles that face the modern woman. Rachel goes
out of her way to encourage women to live the lives they dream of and helps us
foster the drive and confidence to accomplish them. Although shes such funny,
sharp-witted goof in a lot of ways, she is so caring and exceedingly wise. And
you can expect the same if you decide to book a session with RSP. Its like
youre getting a shoot and a therapy session for the price of one. Confidence
and inspiration are the greatest gifts she gives to her clients and fans and
shes not even getting paid for it!

Outrageous Allegations

It is a shame, when a hypersensitive customer makes defamatory remarks about a business.
I feel compelled to respond to this because, not only is Rachel Stephens a great photographer, honest business woman and mother and wife extraordinaire, but she is a very caring and community minded individual that stands up for the rights of women. I live states away from her and have only interacted with her personally when she took photos of me, but she has befriended me and has always treated me with the utmost honesty, dignity and respect.
Do not be fooled by one person's nasty comments- This is a reputable business with good people and they should be applauded and not slandered.

Rachel Stephens Photography is Outstanding and far from a Con

I am the very grateful client of Rachel Stephens Photography twice over. Rachel and Sean were highly professional when working with me and my family, first shooting my pregnancy pictures and secondly when we took our baby's ten day pictures. We recieved the proofs promised in a timely manner and we will forever have the most magical pictures of our baby girl.

I am a domestic violence specialist and Rachel suggested doing photo shoots for the women and their families in our shelter. Rachel has a huge heart and is one of the most amazing mother's I have ever met.

Over the years Rachel and I have kept in touch and I cannot believe her ever doing anything underhanded or unprofessional. I recommend Rachel Stephens Photography all the time and I would back them up any day.

Excellent Experience, Excellent Service

I'd dreamed of working with RSP for years before being able to finally book a session October 2010. As a consumer in a world full of frauds I can understand how one would feel a little vulnerable signing up to have yourself photographed by a stranger... but after speaking with Sean several times prior to my session AND reading all of the emails clearly detailing the services and what is to be expected... I cannot see how anyone could have the nerve to state the experience was anything less than stellar!

All of the members of the RSP team were courteous, professional, friendly and went above and beyond to make my experience nothing less than pleasurable. I fully intend to sign up again this year and every year going forward. As an online retailer by trade, this clearly seems like buyers remorse. Which sucks for you - but you ultimately signed a contract that you failed to live up to and were still given your money back. Get over yourself.

Having little to no experience with boudoir photography, but a great deal of experience in (standard/portrait) photography, I was not sure what to expect. However, I feel Rachel and Sean do everything humanly possible to avoid misunderstandings, which appears to be what happened here.

The information about potentially working with more than one client at once as well as possibly waiting for the specific hotel suite to be available are among the notes provided to clients ahead of time. While there is a lot to read, that information was indeed in the information provided upfront.

I have nothing but raves about my experience with Rachel and, in turn, with Sean, who both handled my shoot, photos, and end products with care, positive energy, and kindness.
I'm sorry to hear about this turn but do not know what more Rachel and Sean could have done to remedy the situation, as every possible scenario already has been thought out and explained in detail in their materials.

I would recommend Rachel and her company to anyone and consider myself very lucky to have cross paths with her and her team.

Rachel Stephens Photography is Highly Reputable, Fair and Professional

It is impossible for me to allow this woman to slander Rachel Stephens, her business and her craft. I signed on for a photo session in Boston in 2008 and was contacted by Rachel herself to discuss how the session worked beforehand. I knew about deposit requirements, expectations to be on time, what to expect when I arrived (the room number, no "key" and just knock on the door. No promise of an "escort" to the room), utilization of her make-up artist, (there is no separate charge for the make-up artist. Tipping, however is optional, but only fair) and all about my proofs and what was expected regarding purchasing packages, etc. Plus, her website was very clear regarding the contract, as she so pleasantly informed me about over the phone. Her business partner, Sean was also helpful and professional with questions I had.

The experience was wonderful. Rachel was encouraging and complimentary as well as fun and obviously intent on making me feel good and look good. Her makeup artist was professional and asked me throughout the process if I liked what I saw in the mirror- because that was important to her. The rest of that day I felt so good about myself and didn't worry about my weight- she Rachel encouraged me to see my beauty through her lens- and I did.

I loved the experience. I love my booklet of prints. I can't wait to do it again. Rachel's fans of her work FAR outweigh any of the unhappy- just look at her FB page and her website. We are made up of outspoken women who cherish the kindness and compassion of a strong, talented business woman.

I recommend Rachel as often as I can. I stand behind her business, her work, her talent and dedication to  produce a beautiful product. Let her reputation with thousands speak for itself.

I do not assume to know or understand the reasoning for your dissatisfaction with the service you received.  In my experiences with RSP I have experienced nothing but respect, professionalism and patience from the staff and owners of RSP.  Before I committed to a contract with the company I read each requirement and expectations of both parties entering into the contract.  I read each email sent to me for preparation of the event.  I did not once assume the liberty to go outside of that legal agreement and demand that my needs be met.  I agreed that the contract included what my needs and expectations were and that's why I signed it at the beginning of the session.  I understood as it was clearly stated several things to include 1.) It is your responsibility to show up on time.  2.) You may see another women leaving or coming during your shoot, however never a man.  3.) You agree to purchase product equivalant to the sitting fee.  4.) You will receive your product once that amount is paid in full.

I would recommend this company to anyone interested in this type of service.

I have had the privledge to having two photoshoots done by Rachel.  She Fully goes above and beyond to fulfill your expectations.  She delivers product of impeccible quality in a very timely manner.

I dont quite understand how someone can get "ripped-off" whose money was refunded to them anyway?  I could go on and on, however I believe Rachels work speaks for itself.  The good she does for women all over this country, including her Sirens for Survivors program, goes above and beyond what this complainers petty complaint could ever do.  She is utterly AMAZING and shame on whomever wrote the complaint.

Rachel Stephens Photography for Women is anything but a con

#23Consumer Comment

I have been a client of Rachel Stephens Photography not once, but twice. Both times I had a great experience. Having had boudoir photography by other professionals, I can honestly say that Rachel Stephens Photography is the most professional and talented artist I have dealt with.

Rachel and Sean laid out every detail in the contract that I signed. It included time lines, which were followed, costs, and details of the session itself. It clearly stated in my contract that proofs would be received via email two weeks from the first Tuesday after my session. Yes, it's hard to wait when you are anxious, but some things just take time, especially when some one puts the time into her work the way that Rachel does. It was no surprise at the session that the make up artist was arranged for by them, as that too was addressed in the contract. At each of my sessions I had a different make up artist, but both were professional and talented.

Rachel was not only professional taking my picture, but a lot of fun. I truly felt like I had made a new friend. After my first session, I felt a new found confidence so much so that I decided to do a second session now, a year later.

I have nothing but highest regards for Rachel Stephens Photography and not only would not hesitate to recommend her to others, but have recommended her to all of my friends, one of which is scheduled later this year for a session with great anticipation.

Rebuttal: Rachel Stephens Photography Sen ORiordan Rachel Stephens Photography Is A Con Artist Portland, Oregon *REBUTTAL Owner of company...You decide.

#23Author of original report

Thu, July 21, 2011

The Owner of this company Sean O"Riordan is unprofessional, a fraud, and tried to hide behind  legal contracts, and "online lawyers" to rip consumers off.
There are thousands of excellent photographers, that are professional, they follow the rules of there own contracts, and conduct themselves in a professional manner.
I stand by my experience with this "horrible company" Rachel Stephens Photography For Women. As a consumer you are better off dealing with a reputable photographer in your area, that does not travel around from State to State scamming consumers.
When a consumer has paid for a service, and you refuse to send the photographs in which they have paid for, and you do not attempt to resolve the matter in a ethical, professional, fashion, you are a con artist.
There are reports on file with the US Attorney Generals Office, and Better Business Bureau. In which these Consumer Affair organizations are keeping these reports on file, for consumers to be aware, when using this company.

#23REBUTTAL Owner of company

First and foremost this is a case of a disgruntled client that believes a signed contract does not apply to her.  Rip Off Report instructs us to give recommendations about our business when we rebut a complaint so let me start with a breast cancer survivor from our Sirens For Survivors program where we offer photoshoots to Breast Cancer Survivors pro-bono.  It can be seen at http://rachelstephensphotography.com/SFS/testimonials.html

Survivor

As tears run down my face, I cant help but wonder how in the world I got so
lucky. For the longest time I have been thinking on writing this testimonial
for Sirens for Survivors. I wanted to say so many things that often I started
drafts in my head. I thought I would wait to write it until I had the final
product in my hands. But life not always goes as expected, a lesson that I
know all too well.

The photoshoot with Rachel was one of the highlights of my year, and I have had an
amazing year. I was declared cancer free in February. Last year, I separated
from my husband and one month later I was diagnosed with cancer. I did
everything by the books: I attended all my appointments, I got any imaginable
test done, I ate super-healthy, I did not stress, etc.  I had a
bilateral mastectomy, 4 months of chemotherapy and 2 months of daily
radiation. I had a very aggressive type of cancer, invasive. It had gone from
my breast to the lymph nodes under my right arm. They removed them as well.
Early this year my latest scans showed no signs of cancer. I am thrilled!

This summer I was chosen to be a siren. I was ecstatic, seriously, ecstatic. I had been
following Rachels work and receiving emails from Sean with updates for a
long time. It was truly a dream come true. I had my reconstruction surgery in
August and the photo shoot in September. I cannot describe how fun it was!
Feeling the anticipation building, going shopping, choosing outfits,
consulting what to bring to the session with my friend, everything- I mean everything
was fun. But nothing compares to the pure joy of working with Rachel.

What an amazing atmosphere! She has a beautiful vibe and a gigantic personality. I
was so nervous while Lindsey did my make-up, which by the way was perfect.
But the moment I stepped into Rachels territory was like being in another
world. She is funny, caring, and respectful. I felt incredibly good. She is
no kidding when she says this experience is empowering. Really, anything I
say would not be enough.

Rachel is made out of talent. I could not stop watching my gallery. Every picture was great.
I look happy as a kid, beautiful as a woman, and as complete as I ever had.
But what it surprised me the most was my eyes. Dont get me wrong, I looked
great, but my eyes made me feel like I was really alive. What an incredible
feeling!

A couple of days before receiving my gallery, I noticed a pinhole opening in one of my
scars.  An infection had developed in my right breast. We tried
antibiotics. I saw my surgeon almost daily.  The infection would not
clear. Apparently the radiation damages the tissue greatly and it is very
hard to heal. It is hard to beat bacteria. The doctor had to remove my right
implant.

Life is full of surprises and it is amazing to me how things happen just in time when they
are needed. Rachels Sirens for Survivors program is an unselfish act of
kindness. I dont think she realizes how far her actions go. The impact her
pictures have on me is beyond words. I just need to keep reminding me how
beautiful and happy Rachel showed me I am. It gives me the force I need to
keep going through a journey that I never imagine. I just need to see the
light in my eyes to see my strength.

See, cancer had given me so much that I would not change a thing about my situation. I am
a better mom, sister, daughter, and friend. I do not worry for little things
anymore. I try new things all the time. I live my life to the fullest. I even
fell in love again. But most of all, having cancer had made me believe again
in the good in people. We all know people around us care for us and love us.
I had a unique opportunity to confirm it. I am loved. I am alive. I had a
session with Rachel and I look awesome! I will always be grateful to you,
Rachel. It was an honor to become a Siren.

I was going to rebut point by point though have decided that I will not give
the individual who wrote this complaint the satisfaction of defending against her
outright lies which are numerous.  We have over 6,000 facebook fans, 2000
happy clients, and one crank.  As a side note she was refunded all monies
as we reserve the right not to work with someone especially an individual of
this type.

I do demand that the author prove her timeline as her session with Rachel was on 05/22/11 she was delivered her online gallery on 06/05/11 at 9:08am, hardly the 6 weeks she purports.  We delivered her images per our contractual obligation.  At 9:44 am on 06/05 the client writes.

"Hello S.

It was a pleasure meeting Rachel (lovely lady), I believe I committed to $250
order minimum? Is that correct (please advise) I know I had signed off, that
you could use my images, however I do not want my images used online for any
purposes.

I will go through the images very carefully again later tonight, however I do
not think, I will be able to use any of the images (will speak to my own
personal digital artist).

If Rachel does not have a problem with my own digital artist doing some editing
(Rachel will get the credit), then I would be open to using some of the images.

Please call me directly  to discuss this further if something can not be worked out, than, I will not order any of the images, they
can be deleted.

Thanks,

E."

Rachel was a Lovely Lady until the client was being compelled to live up to her signed contract and then it was Rachel was not very nice, and very rude.  Which is it?  These two provable falsehoods 'Lovely Lady' and timeline discredit every other point in the complaint, as they should.

By June 16th due to the harassing nature of this client our attorney had to write the following.

"Dear Ms. W.:

I am counsel to Rachel Stephens Photography ("RSP").  My client has informed me that you are dissatisfied with their services.

PayPal advised RSP that your payment of $90 for images was reversed at your request on June 14, shortly after it was made. Accordingly, no images were delivered.

PayPal also advised my client that yesterday (June 15) you also reversed your May 18 PayPal payment of the session fee.  Our files indicate that, not only did you attend the photo session where Ms. Stephens rendered services to you, you indicated in writing that you were pleased with
your session.

Although your actions are in breach of your agreement with RSP, RSP will refund your session fee and delete your images from its files.   It is regrettable that this situation did not meet expectations on either end.

I trust that this serves to resolve this matter.

If you have any further questions, please direct them to me or have your attorney contact me. Kindly refrain from contacting Ms. Stephens or RSP directly.

Please note that any false or misleading statements made by you to any third parties (including Internet postings) concerning my client are likely to damage my client's business and constitute libel. In such an event, my client will pursue all available remedies at law or
equity.

The foregoing is not intended as a recitation of all of the facts in this matter. This letter shall not be deemed a waiver of any of my client's rights or remedies. "

As Co-owner of Rachel Stephens Photography for women I encourage you to read this 1 complaint against our business then check out our FB Fan Page http://www.facebook.com/rachelstephensphotographyforwomen read what other clients are saying and make an educated decision.

Update:Boudoir Photography by Rachel Stephens Photography for Women

#23Author of original report

Fri, June 17, 2011

I am updating my report, after filing a complaint with the Portland, Oregon US Attorney General's office where the company is based out of, as well as filing a report with the US Attorney Generals office in NY State were the incident took place. I never did get the photos that I purchased, after not receiving the photos I purchased, I filed a dispute with Paypal seeking help with getting my images that I purchased. I was not seeking any sort of refund, I have no problem paying for my images. However, I expect to get the items that I have paid for.  When I called on 6/15/2011 to inquire as to when I could expect my images, Sean O'Riordan rudely told me because I contacted Paypal to help with overseeing, when I would get my images, (up until this point my experience had been completely unprofessional) Sean O'Riordan stated he was not giving me the photos I purchased. With that statement, a Supervisor personally called Sean O'Riordan to explain, on behalf of Paypal, I (the client) was not seeking a refund, they could keep the funds I had paid, I just wanted the items I purchased. Sean O'Riordan refused to answer the Supervisor's call with Paypal, or attempt to resolve this in a professional manner.  However Sean O'Riordan voluntarily refunded a payment of $90 on 6/15 a second refund was credited back on 6/16.

I was then sent an email asking to mail a money order for $90 to a Portland OR address, after being told I would not receive any of the images I ordered. I also received an email from an online attorney, with whom I advised, I will diligently share my experience with people, until this matter is fairly resolved with regards to my images. I never saw the 309 images that were allegedly taken by Rachel. At the photo shoot, she was shooting me, and another lady at the same time, whom I did not know. According to her contract, no one is allowed at the shoot except for the make up artist, photographer, and myself. However I did not complain about Rachel shooting another lady at the same time she was shooting me. After 18minutes of shooting me when I asked to see the images of what Rachel took of me, I was told, I would see the images, that she ( Rachel) chooses, in 2 weeks, she was too busy shooting pictures of the lady that had paid for a longer photo shoot. 3 weeks later when I got the images, there are about 20 images. I chose 3 images, purchased those images, and to date, I have not received the images. If and when I do get the images, I will glady update my report to reflect that the images where received.
