Complaint Review: Radco Air Conditioning & Heating

A/C blowing hot air. Called Radco. OWNER came out and immediately informed me that I had a leak and all my freon was gone. Wanted $175.00 just to break out the leak detector. He bent over the unit and could hear the leak, it was that obvious. Right inside the unit. Clearly visible with oil. Turned the leak detector on to confirm the obvious(I assume that was to justify the $175). Charged me $400 to braze a small hole in a copper tube(5 minutes work) then $300 to put in freon. $700 for ten minutes work! Left saying all fixed. Lasted two days. Blowing hot air again. Got an attitude when I called and questioned his work about not doing a full leak detection test because obviously there is still a leak. He says that never happens. Comes out and lo and behold - another leak! I say you should have found that the first time(if there really was another leak the first time). Same general area but different tube(you do the math)Sorry, need another $400 to braze that leak and of course another $300 for more freon. Perhaps a new condenser for $2800.00 - no thanks. Says the $400 for a simple 5 minute braze job is because it costs a lot of money to run full page yellow pages ads and operate a truck. Price of doing business buddy. Am having expert come to examine second leak point and go over all work to eliminate possibility of hanky panky if you get my drift. Avoid this company at all costs and I do mean COSTS!!!!
