I purchased a new phone from Radio Shack in October of 2013. I also purchased their insurance,  canceling my AT&T insurance.  Big mistake.

I have had problems with my phone since day 1. My problem with the phone is the receiver of my calls hears an Echo. My phone is a gallery 4. Next I was told it was my setting, then my Otter cover. Nothing helped. Echo continues.  I decided to use my insurance and have the phone replaced or repaired. Now I am told my insurance which is paid for isn't effective until October of 2014 !!! The manager promised my  problem would be resolved.  It's been 2 weejs. She doesn't return my calls. I am so upset. Samsung says they will look at my phone and fix it if they find a problem,  but I will have to be without a phone for over a week. I need my phone. I am a nurse and I have an elderly mother who needs to reach me at any time.  Please help.

I have a few more questions in response to radio shacks rebuttal.  You state the echo on my phone was due to the towers, if that's the case when I finally got to return my phone with the help of AT& T why did Samsung agree it was defective?  The phone was indeed defective and replaced. No wait period, and no problems with the new phone.

Why didn't your store honor your product that you sold and replace the phone from the beginning?  Why didn't the store manager or as she called him "her boss" ever return my calls?

Why did I pay 129. And some change for this "it happens" insurance and not be able to use it for one year?

I was with a defective phone for 6 months, one that I couldnt carry on a conversation due to the echo.

Why when I went to another Radio Shack did the employees say to me "oh I heard about you, your story went to the top", they also stated they didn't know the insurance wasn't in effect for a year, which Monique also stated. Again, why would I purchase such a policy???

This could of been resolved from day one, my first visit to the store with my defective phone. It's certainly not your fault nor mine the phone was defective. It happens. I would of left a happy customer and continued to do business with Radio Shack like I have for over 20 years. I am saddened that you have lost your sense of customer satisfaction, and it had to come down to this. I am pleased and Thank you for your 25 dollar gift cert, and I am glad assurant insurance refunded my money. I am just disappointed of all the wasted time I spent on this, and your lack of follow up.

Thank you

If the problem with the ECHO was the towers, why doesnt anyone else have this problem that have the same phone. Why didn't you explain this during my multiple visits to your store???  Why didn't Monique or any other salesperson ever return my calls?  Why was my insurance cost so much more than what you quoted in your rebuttal?  Why did the sales staff not know this insurance wasn't not effective for one year???? Why did ATT&T arrange for me to get a new phone sent to mr by Samsung and radio shack could not or was not willing to do so? Bottom line, poor customer service and not backing the products they sell, or following their so called warranty.

Radioshack offers 2 in house warranty plans for cell phones. The first is a monthly payment if 9.99, with either a 79.99 deductable for a basic phone, or a 99.99 deductable for a smartphone(depending on carrier). Basic phones will be replaced immediately if one is available, while smartphones have to be sent to the claim wharehouse for repair or processing to get a replacement.

The second option is a larger down payment due immediately at checkout, 49.99 for a basic phone and 79.99 for a smartphone. Basic phones do not require a deductable and will be replaced immediately if available, or a chosen equal value phone can be substituted. Smartphones require a 129.99 deductable and are sent to the warranty wharehouse for repair or processed replacement.

All Radioshack options activate immediately, there is no "wait time" of any kind, just the suggestion that you go through the carrier within the first year if the phone has failed due to manufacturers defect, to save you the deductable if it is required.

Now the fun part, phone echo is not an issue with your phone, at all. It is an issue with the carrier that happens when your phone is getting reception from 2 towers at once and sending signals to both. The carrier has to adjust options within your account to fix the issue for you. Not the phones fault in the slightest.

(Please note prices may change according to location and any special events or sales that may be going on, but actual terms of use do not change at all)
