Purchased Direct TV Antenna from Radio Shack and was promised a $25 rebate on the price. Radio Shack refused to pay saying that claim needed a UPX # from carton. Their salesperson never mentioned the need to save this # and theirTV installer destroyed the carton.

Did you read the rebate form?

I used to see this all the time when I worked for a company that sometimes had rebates on items. Consumers would not read the rebate form they were provided to make sure they knew all the details of the rebate.

The rebate form probably spelled out that you would need to have a copy of your original receipt and the UPC code or proof of purchase code (or possibly both) from the box. If you don't read and understand the rules, you can't get upset with the company when they insist on holding you to those rules, you only have yourself to blame.
