Raffaelo Gualtiero - Jon Gravbrot - Royalgroup-PIC "Macbook Pro, new in the box for $1300" scam from Italy using non-existant service of Royal Air. Milan Italy
I responded to a New York City Craigslist ad for a Macbook pro new and still in the box for $1300. The man who called himself Jon Gravbrot said that it would be sent by a safe method provided by the British Postal service "Royal Mail".
He was so slick that even after I called Royal Mail myself the agent knew nothing about the service, I asked him for the link the Royal Mail he was talking about and he, in fact, came up with what I can now see is face mock-up site: http://royalgroup-plc.com/transactions/details.html
The deal was that Royal Mail, according to him, has a service wherein they hold the money until you approve the transfer therefore allowing you to check the merchandise safely and if there is a problem, you can have your money back.
As he said it would, an email came to me from "Royal Mail" actually "support@royalgroup-plc.com" requesting that I send the money via Western Union to their agent "Raffello Gualtiero" at 51, v. Gianfranco Zuretti in Milan.
That didn't make sense to me and I very fortunately googled the address and found out about previous victims of this fraud through this web-site.
Thankfully, I had not yet gone to Western Union!
