I bought a 1986 CRX about 2 years ago.The guy who worked at Rainbow owned the car and was getting rid of it.I was told it had a re-built engine with only 3,000 miles on it.That was all fine and everything, but then the clutch went out the next week. They fixed it temporarily and recommended me to a mechanic who was a former employee.

Me being a young girl, didn't know who else to call.I had the guy Forrest install a totally new clutch since when the car dealership sold it to me, one of the springs in the clutch plate was disconnected and wore it out in no time. Forrest seemed to do a good job until a year later. He didn't properly do the rear main seal and it started leaking. When you have a rear main engine seal leak, it kills your clutch immediately withing a couple weeks. It was a pain in the a*s to drive when in this condition. Once I noticed the seal leaking, I took it to some really good well-known mechanics and they worked on my CRX.

Anyways, and how it all goes is that the man who re-built the engine didn't know what the hell he was doing. The pan gasket was way too tight, heater hoses were too tight and cracked causing my engine to overheat, and many of the other parts were almost at their limit (distributer). Not to include that I had to have ANOTHER clutch put in after Forrest since the rear main engine seal went bad and wasn't done properly in the first place. There were oil leaks all over the place.

The mechanics didn't even charge me for all the extra time they put into the car.I ended up paying $1100.00 for a total mess up job from the start. The car is awesome (new paint job and everything) but I have put a total of $5000 into it in the last 2 years and payed $3000 for it in Feb. 2001.Talk about a rip off.

GETTING THE FACTS

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

Fri, April 02, 2004

Heather should get her facts straight before she puts herself in a position of SLANDER. #1 The car was not owned by an employee, it was a friend of the owners. #2 The clutch went bad because of, a young girls lack of experience operating a clutch. #3 Forest is not, and has never been,an employee. However, He is one of the Best! Mechanics in Northern Colorado. If you had a car brought to you for a clutch job, why in the world would you be replacing the rear main seal in the engine if it was not leaking at the time or, until a year later? She says herself that it would only last a couple of weeks if it were leaking.Facts, She said 1 year later, she noticed the seal leaking and took it to some "Really Good Well-known Mechanics" and they worked on her car. #4 Heater hoses to tight? I got a good laugh on this due to the Fact Hondas have the pinch clamps on them so the tightness is preloaded in the clamp it self. Also, just in case someone used a regular clamp (that requires a flat headed screw driver to tighten it) would break before you could tighten it too tight or cut into the hose and leak imediatley.I don't know what she spent on a paint job but, if someone let her put $5000.00 dollars more in her car, Where is the "Rip Off" Thank You,
