Through home depot water test, I went through their sales pitch and was introduced rainsoft product. The rookie sale person did an extremely poor job in presentation, touched water sample with his finger during the demo. The team lead came with him, wasn't paying attention either.

I liked the idea of having a whole house filtration system and paid for the system. I turned down the sales pitch of having an under sink water filter as I have one already and its a hassle to change filters. Confirmed twice with the two sales person that its ok to drink the "filtered" water from any tap. (of course, the water is drinkable even before any water softner)

Couple weeks later, I purchased a TDS meter and found out that the solid in the water didn't reduce much as the demo said. I promptly called their corporate office, the same guy Dave Howard (who authorized a 10% discount when the team lead talked to him on cell phone in my house) told me that the EC4 system doesn't filter out solid, just a water softening system. The sales guys knew very well that we don't have hardness problem with the town water. Our hardness was 3 (1 being soft, 3 being mild soft, well water is like 20), I was only interested in a filter system for drinking water.

After a length phone conversation, Dave Howard offered half price to put an under sink filter in, that's after I spent couple thousand dollars  for a system I don't need. I called back and left a voice mail to ask remove the system for mis-representation of information. Never heard back from him .

I subsequently disputed with my credit card company. The same Dave Howard called me and pretended that we never spoke before. (I don't know how many customer had technical discussions on TDS level).  Lying alone is disgusting and unethical business practice.

After that, Basement technologies has called me at least 3 times to offer free consultation on water proof basement, which I do not need. Where did the sales get my phone number? Through the rainsoft side of business, as my basement doesn't even need a dehumidifier.

I am ready to complain to Attorney General's office for their business practice.
