My wife and I built a house and required a water treatment system for our well water. We decided on a Rainsoft system. ( big mistake ) We had our first system for roughly 8 months when it ruined $500 worth of clothes. We contacted the dealer and wanted the system removed and our money back. Mr. Griese, the dealer, convinced us that Rainsoft had a brand new system out and that it would work for us with no problems. So, we let him put the new system in ( mistake #2) He also told us to total up our clothing losses and his insurance would pay for it.

Shortly after the new system was in it malfunctioned. The parts not the service and labor, just parts cost us $360. We were not yet reimbursed for our ruined clothing so we struck a deal with the dealer ( mistake #3) If he would not charge us for the repair, we would not pursue reimbursement for the ruined clothing. Little did we know at the time that ALL the parts he was charging us for were under warranty. You can bet he knew they were, after all he is a dealer. So this deal was a win, win for him.

This sytem continued to malfunction for the next year and we continued to pay for the various pistons and injectors to keep the system working.

After discovering that the parts were in fact warrantied I contacted the Rainsoft Corporate offices customer service and they were of no help in my pursuit to retreive the money I spent on both the warrantied parts that I have paid for AND the $500 for the ruined clothing.

Bottom line is that I paid $2,600 for a system that continues to break, Lost $500 for the clothing that was ruined by the system, Lost the money for the "warrantied" parts and still don't have clean water.
Mr. Greise, the dealer, did offer to come up to my house and remove the system but he was not going to give me ANY money back. I guess he would like that. I am not going to "GIVE" him a $2,600 system. I would rather throw it away first.
