Complaint Review: Ralph Dietrick

First day of work June 29^th, 2015.  Worked m-f from about 10-2

Between the 7/6 and 7/15 he did not show up three times.  The first was a flat tire.  The second time his kid was sick and the third time his truck broke down.  I do not remember what time he showed up during these dates, but I started marking down on 7/16 when he did not show up again.  Then on 7/17 he stopped in for about 15 minutes to tell me he would come on the 18^th and finish up.  Well, he was a no show on the 18^th too.  7/20 he worked for 2 and a half hours and assured me he would finish up on 7/21 and that the vanity top had been ordered.  (1) He was a no show on 7/21.  He showed up on 7/22 for two hours and on the 23^rd was a no show again.  7/24 he worked for 3 and a half hours and assured us that the vanity top had been ordered and paid for since we gave him a check on 7/18 for the vanity top since it was a custom order and would take 21 working days.  He assured me that it would be in no later than August 14^th.  (2)

Found out today August 4^th that vanity was not paid for and therefore never ordered.  Spoke with Mike Castertano at Lowes.  Spoke with Mike again on 8/7 and he said there is no order at lowes or with US Marble for a vanity top .

Spoke with Ralph on 8/5 and he assured us that the vanity top was ordered under a different account (which he did not provide)  and assured us again that it would be in by August 14^th.  (3)  Went to Lowes on 8/5 and they said they did not have any order to US marble anywhere in their system. 

This man is a sloppy worker.  He ruined the new floor he put in (we have pictures), ruined our vanity (which we were going to keep, we have pictures).  He put scratches on our new shower pan that he put in.  He left trash on our porch and driveway for weeks.  He took four weeks to work on a job he said would be done in two weeks and is still not finished.  He cracked our marble window sill.  We had to have him clean the trap under the shower because he had washed down plaster or something and it was clogging up the shower.  He put a bulkhead in that was too big to fit the vanity and medicine cabinet under, so we had to have him change that.  He also never gave us warranties or instructions for the new things her put in like shower head, shower pan, vanity, toilet, faucet.  We found some of these in the trash.

8/5 spoke with a lawyer and he said it would cost $2500.00 and that he could not guarantee that we would even get anything since it sounds like this guy is robbing Peter to pay Paul.  He suggested going to the attorney general.

It would cost us around $600.00 to buy the stuff we do not have yet plus the labor to have someone finish up.  And cost of vanity top.

Spoke with Ralph on 8/7.  Still says that the top is ordered even after we told him there is no order at Lowes or US Marble as per Mike Castertano.  He said he had an order number and would get back to us with it.  We have not heard from him since.  We called on Saturday 9/8 twice, no answer left a message.  Called Sunday 8/9 at 1:10PM,  said we are still waiting on the order number and that if he does not call us back today, we will consider him in breach of contract.  Left message again at 5PM 8/9 telling him since he is not returning our calls that we consider him in breach of contract and we expect a check for $677.50… 527.50 for the check we gave him for the vanity top and $150.00 for the medicine cabinet that he destroyed.

We had another contractor come in and finish the work.  He said that Ralph put in the shower stall incorrectly and he broke the back of our vanity.  Also, when he took out the toilet to put in the new floor,  he found mold growing under the toilet because it was leaking.  If we had let this go, we could have become seriously sick or even died. 

This man does not deserve to have a license.  All he is, is a ripoff artist.
