My mother received an offer in the mail for a free cruise. She called the number even thought my sister and I both warned against it. She was told by a sales representative that her credit card would be charged 349.00 and that she could pay the balance in installments of $66.00 a month.
When my sister and I realized that she had done this we called to try to cancel it and get a refund. They gave her a partial refund but she is 85 years old. They smooth talked her and confused her. She lives on her social security and VA pension. She doesn't have the money to lose $373.00.
It is really mean to bilk an old lady out of her money and lie to her in the process.
