Ramada Plaza Resorts Orlando - Ft.Lauderdale Vacations ripoff Ft. Lauderdale Florida
On 9/1/04 we were talked into (over the telephone) a "fabulous" vacation: 3 days/2 night in Ft. Lauderdale, 2 nights on a cruise ship to Nassau, and 4 days/3 nights in Orlando. Involved was a "90 minute" presentation about buying a vacation week in a condo.
We asked that they send the information, and they charged our Visa $498.00...half of the supposed cost of the trip. Since 9/1/04 my husband, who is to be 87 in December, has become incapacited, and we are unable to take the trip.
I called asking for a refund of our $498. Their response was that since I did not call within 3 days of receiving their package of information, they would not refund our money. After I put my husband on the phone, the woman agree to refund half of the $498.00. It remains to be seen whether or not she will do so. Her claim was that since we had agreed on the phone to charge $498 as a deposit, that amount was not refundable, that the time for doing so was passed, etc., etc.
This is indeed a rip-off...and these people need to be put out of business. How about reporting them to 60-Minutes or some similar TV program to expose this scam. What recourse do we have to retrieve the whole amount of our deposit?
