Hello...long story short, I'm currently trying to get a $698 refund for my mother who was scammed by Ramada Plaza Resorts. She received a voucher in the mail in March and it said to call within 72 hours to receive her $1600 vacation. She didn't think much of this because her understanding was that this was from the Ramada Hotel chain.

She called and was told to give a credit card # for the $698 deposit to "hold" her vacation. Well she received her vacation package; a video and some vouchers requesting another $698 to receive the actual itinerary to her first class vacation in Florida.

Well I found out about this early August. I looked Ramada Plaza Resorts on internet and low and behold a ton of websites with consumer outcry on what a rip-off they are.

I told her about all the bad press and said she should call to get her money back. Well we called, and they had an answer for everything that we brought up--talk about scripted responses. We even brought up how we would contact our Atty General of the State of Ct, that didn't seem to faze them. They said they would accept her cancellation, however they are unable to refund her $698 because her complaint is past 30 days.

They stated a letter would be put in the mail regards to their no refund policy. They also said that if she did take the trip and was dissatisfied that they would refund her money, but this would not include the additional monies spent on her behalf; taxes, food, etc.

So basically if you want a refund you have to take the trip and complain about it, or they even said she could try to sell her vacation package. Like she would really want to hoodwink someone into buying this bs...

Well I'm assisting her in regards to contacting our Atty General and making a formal complaint.

Refund Request Granted!!

Just to update, I sent a letter in for my mother regarding refund for the $698. She received a response this week saying her credit card will be credited in two weeks.
Persistance pays off, as well as providing a WRITTEN complaint instead of calling and complaining to their reps. Just clearly state the reasons you are requesting the refund.
Hopefully, you will get the same results as we did.

Well-contacted my State Atty's office. They suggested I send in all of the correspondance between my mother and the company and they would investigate. Though, first I decided to send a letter To Ramada Plaza Resorts(as suggested by a reader) to see if they would grant a refund. If they do not, all the paperwork is gathered to send to my Atty General. I will keep readers posted on my progress to get the $698 that she forked over for the sham vacation.

Forget about the costumer service. Go to the head. Send your refund request (with detailed explanation why you request it) to :

Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308

You mentioned that you saw tons of complaints on the net. Use the keywords: RPR+refund - you will see many reports on different sites on getting refund, with sample letters.
