Ramada Plaza Resorts ripoff, violated Florida's Deceptive and unfair Trade Practices Act, Fort Lauderdale, Florida
I received a voucher in the mail back in March 2004 for $1600 for a trip of a lifetime, so I curiously called the 800 number. I ended up purchasing the pkg with a 3yr extension putting a down payment of $6980.00USD, which worked out to be $953.00CAN. On October 28, 2005, I received a phone call from Cory Miller one of the customer service people at Ramada plaza resorts telling me that I had to pay the balance of the trip, which was another $698.00USD for the second person (the remaining balance with I had 18 months to pay). I was told I had to show some attempt of payment do to the fact that I was expired and if I didn't make an effort to pay the remaining balance that I would lose the package. After asking for the trip to be canceled do to my financial situation and I didn't think that I was going to be able to travel any time soon he transferred me over to a manager by the name of Tom White. He explained that I would lose the down payment and that I could not get a refund and that I could not cancel because I had expired. Not wanting to lose the down payment I reluctantly made a payment plan so that for the next 30/60/ and 90 days $224.33USD would be withdrawn to pay the balance. After doing so I was feeling uncomfortable and I was looking around on the Internet and I found this site (Ripoffreports.com). I have read too many bad reports that Ramada Plaza Resorts in a big fraud. I have since cancelled my trip (Oct. 15 2005) and have been told that I can't be refunded my down payment but, that they will refund my credit card for payment I made of $271.63CND and that they would not withdraw any more payments. I was told that I am not able to receive a refund and I would like to know if there is anything that I can do about it since it has been a over year.
