As a former employee, I witnessed several unethical and illegal situations.  Rambha Singh and her husband Satyendra Singh, allowed us employees to work in a hostile environment.  They told us we all had to go "independently contracted" because they "cant afford payroll."  They were very unprepared with everything and everyday opened the salon with no cash float making it hard to check out clients.  They held our paychecks and our tips and shorted many of us due to Rambha's constant discounting without our authorization on services.  They also have henna color among other things in the salon with no MSDS sheet, which violates State Board and OSHA policies.  We were all lied to many times.  We were told we were getting gas cards to use and would also get paid to clean.  They never followed through with any of it.  This place is not clean or sanitary and there are maybe 1 or 2 employees still left because of this.  They harrassed me and another employee through email about facebook .  They made me remove posts on my facebook and were controlling.  Overall, they do not know how to run a business and violated alot of laws.

There is your Henna MSDS sheet, and your accusations are unfounded. The Singhs have a very good reputation within the community, and go above and beyond for their employees. I have stepped in as manager, and ll is well. If you have ever owned a business, payroll is very expensive, as well as unemployment insurance and workman's comp. So under professional advice, they were told about the  options available. Independent Contractors should take the incentive to build their own clientelle, and grow with the business. Rambha is always encouraging her clients to try other services to endorse the contractors. If the stylist proves to be incompetent, the client will not return to them. I have not encountered this problem, and have already earned the trust of several of Rambha's own clients. They were in need of organization, and competent stylist to acomodate their growth. Not self centered children who have to be babysat. They have a team of professionals that are wisely utilized and they are careful to know the laws involved. Rambha has discounted her services to accomodate clients needs, and coax them into trying other services. This is a wise practice in this economy. The spa was being slandered by this x-employee, and receptionist, after they signed a contract agreeing not to. The owner has every right to ask the comments be removed, or face reprocussions. The salon is immaculate, and business is growing daily. Many clients complained abut the unprofessionalism of the receptionist and stylist gossiping at the reception desk, instead of utilizing time passing out literature and samples to help bring in clients. They just wanted to sit around and get paid  for it.
